I'll be writing more about Gov. Sarah Palin's remarkable rally Thursday night in Beaver, PA, a few miles from where I live. I have tremendous admiration for the Governor and her wonderful family. I met a number of superb women yesterday, including Alexandra, who was taping a program for HBO and Melissa Hart, a fine candidate for Congress in western PA.

I haven't forgotten about my Pennsylvania congressional races. The tremendous energy in the McCain Campaign -- and his real chance of winning the Keystone State in particular and the overall election in "general" -- have led to some exciting possibilities. Melissa Hart is now a slight favorite in her race against Jason Altmire. Lou Barletta could win handily against his thoroughly corrupt opponent, Paul Kanjorski.

Tom Manion could move a sliver ahead of Patrick Murphy. Candidates like Craig Williams (against Sestak), Toni Gilhooley (against Holden), and even Bill Russell (against the despicable Murtha) have something they didn't before: a chance to win. A lot of the thanks should go to Gov. Sarah Palin. Alaska is nowhere near Pennsylvania, but Gov. Sarah's very near to our hearts. Yeah, she clings to God and guns, family and country -- just like we do.

HILLARY CLINTON TO REPLACE JOE BIDEN?

I've been the main voice on the Internet discussing the story that Hillary Clinton -- early in October, it appears -- would replace Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket. I stand by this revelation because I believe it's true. The Houston Post-Chronicle recently printed a story suggesting such a "V-P Switcheroo" could be coming.

Remember that famous Friday a.m. (look back a couple of weeks) when I said at 2 a.m. that Sen. McCain would name Gov. Sarah Palin as his V-P? Many people, including some good friends, said I "must be mistaken." It must be Mitt Romney or Tim Pawlenty, right?

At 11 a.m. on Friday when it was clear the not-so-gentle lady from Alaska, Sarah, would get the nod, many members of the media were angry. Why hadn't anyone told them? Well, I told them. My view of the MSM is that it consists mostly of incompetents who couldn't break an egg let alone a real story.

One development you've been hearing little if anything about is the effect Sarah Palin's tremendous popularity is having on congressional races. Because of America's love affair with Sarah, many Obama Democrats are now afraid they will lose their seats. That has added to the desperation in the ranks of the Party's far-left wing.

Many of the members of Congress most worried are those who truly need their "job" and have been on the federal dole for many decades. Outside the comfy halls of Congress, a lot of these low-talent people would essentially be unemployable.

Thus, they despise Sarah Palin because she threatens their livelihoods. So, look for a growing number of calls for Obama to: (1) "get tougher" -- to sling more mud and be more negative than he already is; (2) get rid of Biden and replace him with Senator Clinton (or perhaps even someone else).

I hope all the thousands of bloggers and other onliners who are supporting McCain-Palin will highlight the "Hillary" story. That's exactly what Obama, Axelrod, Brazille, and Dean don't want you to do. Continued discussion will shed light on developments the Obama Campaign would rather spring on Americans at the last moment.

Note: If you start hearing more stories, as we did last week, of Senator Biden's "health issues" (in actuality, he really doesn't have any), you will know the time is drawing nigh for Joe to exit Left.

My predictions for the Oct. 2 V-P debate (if Joe makes it that far)? Sarah will mop the floor with him. His antics and windbag nature will turn off a huge number of women voters. Sarah will continue to look more "presidential" than either Obama or Biden.

In the 1972 presidential election, George McGovern named as his V-P pick Senator Thomas Eagleton (a fine man, by the way). Then, it came out that Eagleton had once undergone electro-shock treatments for depression. Calls came in from Party leaders to get Eagleton off the ticket.Senator McGovern famously said he was behind Eagleton "100% -- no, 1,000 percent."

The next day McGovern dumped Eagleton, replacing him with Sargent Shriver (JFK's brother-in-law).

In November, 1972, McGovern lost 49 states.Keep in mind the date October 5 (three days after the debate) :-)

PALIN: NICKNAME WAS "Sarah Barracuda"

I sent the following urgent message to campaign managers of five PA candidates for congressional offices.

Alicia, sorry I didn't make it to the football game. In fact, I didn't even make it to the McCain Rally. I have been in the most unusual days of my life. Last night I even talked to the BBC in London re Palin and to many other news outlets and answered hundreds of e-mails, put up new posts re: Sarah. I love both you and Melissa, and I will continue to do what I can.

Get Sarah back here in western PA! Mac will camp her in PA, OH, VA, FL, and MN. It is the ball game.

The commercials and even the tee-shirts (more to come on that) will help.

Alicia and Melissa, Toni, Craig, Tom, and Marina, tie your wagon to McCain-Palin, especially the Palin half I know, it isn't done, but it must be done this time. Alicia, thanks for the salute on Sarah. I hope her oldest daughter (the one holding the baby at the Dayton speech) will come to PA to campaign for Melissa, Toni, Tom Manion, Craig Williams, and Marina Kats.

I hope Todd and the kids will do the same. Her son will be in Iraq on Sept. 11. Stay real close to Sarah Palin. Get in pictures with her. Point out how you (all of you) agree with Sarah on everything. Do Palin-Hart, Palin-Williams, Palin-Kats, and Palin-Gilhooley press releases.

Sarah is Obama's worst nightmare. He's a windbag, and she's a breath of fresh air.

Sarah Story: Her eldest daughter, Bristol, was going to an event in Alaska, and asked her mother for $35 dollars for gas.

Sarah: "Didn't your dad just give you $35 yesterday?"

Bristol: "Yeah, mom, he did, but I spent it on getting my legs waxed."

Sarah (shaking her head in maternal disbelief): "Legs waxed? Bristol, last time I looked we had lots of razors around here!"

National Support for PA Candidates

Many Republican candidates for the Senate and House deserve national support, and I'm doing what I can to make sure they get it. The following message to national leaders focuses on two Senate candidates (Dr. Steve Sauerberg against Obama sycophant Dick Durbin in Illinois and Jeff Beatty against Obama Supporter John Kerry in Massachusetts) and two House candidates (Melissa Hart in western PA and Toni Gilhooley in central PA).

Katie and others, as you know I have to "pick my spots" somewhat carefully. I will be sending out a mass mailing (and telling people to please alert their friends, family, and acquaintances to support certain candidates who are running against people who shafted Hillary Clinton). I need to keep the candidate numbers low enough not to turn people off with sheer volume. The candidates I'm zeroing in on are Steve Sauerberg (Illinois Senate), Jeff Beatty (Senate Mass.), Melissa Hart (Congress 4th District, my district, western PA), and Toni Gilhooley (PA 17th district, Harrisburg and surrounding area). I will ask people to highlight these candidates on their blogs and to send money ("at least a modest contribution"), and urge everyone to support them in any ways possible. The "Hillary-crats" I'm dealing with are mainly "Reagan Democrats.

Sauerberg and Beatty you know about. Details about Hart and Gilhooley are on their sites. These people are friends and very dear to me. Alicia Collins is Melissa's campaign manager. Jake Burns is Toni's campaign manager. Melissa's opponent, Jason Altmire, is anti-military and one of Pelosi's political "boy toys." Toni's opponent (Tim Holden) is a poor excuse for a human being who says he supports "moot" at the Democratic Convention. Is that Mr. Moot or Mrs. Moot?

Are there other terrific candidates for Congress in PA? In fact, there are many, and I'll be citing them this weekend. As far as their efforts to win, I'm going to do what I can -- when I can.

I firmly believe that for any of these candidates to win they MUST go after the Hillary Supporters. They can't win with Republicans alone. In most cases, their opponents have helped them by stabbing Sen. Clinton in the back.

My goal is to make 15,000 to 25,000 people nationally aware of the four candidates. They need financial supporters, and they need individuals across the country to advocate their candidacies.

Democrats "Party Loyalty" Sinking Fast

Lifelong Democrats increasingly are deserting the sinking ship that is their Party . . . That has huge implications for Republican candidates . . .

This has been one busy week, and it's only Wednesday. I've been posting mainly e-mails from Democrats who are no longer comfortable being Democrats. Many of them are now disgusted Democrats, or Independent, or -- in some cases -- (shudder) Republicans. If you scroll down, you'll see some examples. I'll have up more tomorrow.

Consider the following comments by Latonia, a Democrat totally dismayed by her Party:

"I don't understand why Republicans aren't trying to figure out how to come together and beat nobama. It seems that both parties have serious flaws. As soon as this election is over - I am going Independent - no party loyalties for me."

Republican candidates should go after those disgusted Democrats. In many case, there own represenatives are major factors in their disgust. Democrats like Jason Altmire and Patrick Murphy accepted campaign "contributions" from Obama. Then, they (coincidentally) backed Obama during and after the Pennsylvania Primary. Altmire will claim that's not true -- that he was "undecided." In fact, he fawned all over Sen. Obama during the primary season. It's a good idea to never believe anything Jason Altmire says. As for Murphy, a veteran, he jointed the anti-military wing of the Democratic Party as soon as Nancy Pelosi winked at him.

If these are the kind of congressman Pennsylvania wants, then God help us!

By the way, Altmire's opponent is Melisss Hart. Murphy's is Tom Manion. They need your support to defeat their morally corrupt opponents.


The following shows the usual pro-Obama media bias, but if you read between the lines, it says a lot about Clinton backers going to McCain. Barack Obama expressed his general contempt for the people of Pennsylvania (supposedly "clinging" to our guns and our God), and no one has forgotten the remarks.

Ex-Clinton supporters show at McCain gathering

A brother of New York Sen. Hillary Clinton and local Democrats who backed her unsuccessful presidential campaign socialized privately Monday with a top surrogate of the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, Arizona Sen. John McCain.

The private gathering featured Carly Fiorina, McCain’s top economic adviser, and took place at the Dunmore home of political consultant Jamie Brazil, a longtime friend of Clinton’s family who has signed on as paid national director of McCain’s Citizens for McCain Coalition.

The attendees included Tony Rodham, Clinton’s youngest sibling, his wife, Megan, and their two children; attorney Kathleen Granahan Kane, who coordinated Clinton’s presidential campaign in northeast Pennsylvania during the Pennsylvania primary election; and Virginia McGregor, the sister of Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty.

With the Democratic National Convention less than a week away, the gathering raises questions about the support Illinois Sen. Barack Obama can expect from former local supporters of Clinton, who dominated voting in the northeast in the April primary election. Clinton won 74 percent of Lackawanna County Democrats, to Obama’s 26 percent.

Fiorina’s day-long local visit, part of a two-day bus tour of the state, was aimed at talking disenchanted former supporters of Clinton into supporting McCain. The private gathering was not a fundraiser.

“I think there’s going to be a groundswell of support for McCain,” said Lackawanna County District Attorney Andy Jarbola, a Republican and one of the people who attended. “I think a lot of Hillary supporters are going to be for McCain.”

Efforts to reach Brazil, Rodham and a spokesman for Clinton were unsuccessful.

Ellen Mellody, the northeast spokeswoman for Obama’s campaign, declined to comment on Rodham’s presence at the meeting, but said Obama’s backing by Clinton and Gov. Ed Rendell is supplemented by growing local support.

“We’re seeing huge support and momentum throughout the region,” Mellody said. “Currently, we have over 1,000 volunteers, many of which are independent Republicans and former Clinton supporters and volunteers. We expect to sign up hundreds more in the coming weeks. We have three offices open in the region and we are opening two more shortly.”

Kane said her presence at the gathering should not be read as a sign of support for McCain.
“I don’t know. I’m not sure. I’m trying to get as much information as I can on both of them,” she said when asked if she’s backing McCain. “I would have loved to see her as president. We still have a week to go. You never know what’s going to happen at the convention. I think she would be a fantastic choice (for vice president).”

Kane said she didn’t read Rodham’s presence as a sign he’s supporting McCain.

“No, it definitely does not. The reason he was there was because he and Jamie are very good friends,” Kane said. “I think that was just a social call.”

McGregor declined to say if she’s supporting Obama, but said she attended because Brazil is a friend.

“I was always a fan of Carly,” she said.

McGregor’s appearance also is no indicator of the position of her brother, Doherty, she said.
“It didn’t mean anything,” said McGregor, who ran Doherty’s successful 2005 re-election campaign. “I’m just a housewife. I’m a nobody.”

Doherty has publicly endorsed Obama.

Fiorina spoke briefly about McCain’s economic policies, but mostly mingled with her audience, Jarbola said. About 20 people attended.

After dropping by Brazil’s home, Fiorina addressed a public event at the Ramada Inn in South Abington Township. About a third of the audience was Democrats, based on a show of hands Fiorina requested.

Fiorina peppered her Ramada remarks with references to Clinton . . .

Brazil is a longtime close friend of the Rodham family and a friend of Rendell, who also supported Clinton.

Rendell is endorsing Obama, although he has said he will vote for Clinton when her name is placed in nomination at the convention next week.

Lackawanna County Recorder of Deeds Evie Rafalko McNulty, a Clinton convention delegate who plans to support Obama after the convention, lamented Rodham’s appearance at Brazil’s home for the private get-together with Fiorina.

“Poor Hillary,” she said. “You can pick you friends, but you can’t pick your family.”

GOP Candidates: Ferocity, Not Fecklessness

Republicans: get much tougher -- or stop kidding yourself about winning . . .

I'll be putting up a new column this weekend. I've been spending a great deal of time on matters pertaining to Barack H. Obama -- specifically, doing what I can to ensure his defeat. One point I've been emphasizing is the need -- nationally and in congressional races -- for Republican candidates to confront Democrats. I'm talking not only about butting heads HARD with their opponents, but also asking registered Democrats if they really want a Congress that's bent on doing great damage to the country. The failure of Congress over a period of many decades to permit exploring for and producing oil has led to a national crisis. If we re-elect incompetent Democrats, the crisis will get much worse.

It's long past the time when we needed dignified debates about the "issues." When your Democratic opponent is corrupt and irresponsible, it serves no good cause to treat him as if he were FDR or JFK. Also, when people like Jason Altmire, Tim Holden, Patrick Murphy, Allyson Schwartz, Joe Sestak, and Paul Kanjorski are taking positions on the War that endanger the lives of American soldiers, it's time to take off the gloves.

Running a "traditional Republican" campaign -- one with a great deal of timidity disgusied as "dignity" -- is a sure recipe for defeat. Frankly, with four more years -- or eight more years -- of Democratic rule in Washington, the U.S. will be lucky if it's still a country.

Republicans need to campaign not with fecklessness, but with ferocity. If you want the office, then do what it takes to get it! Voters -- even Democrats -- are not entirely robotic. Hit them in the mouth with the truth, and they will wake up and respond effectively.

Don't kid yourselves that your opponents are "good, but misguided individuals>' Misguided they are, but good they're not. They're on a path to wreck the economy and undermine the nation's ability to protect itself.

People who care deeply about this country should visit the following sites and offer your support. If they don't get your support, then get used to a government controlled by Nancy Pelosi and her minions.

Note: I wrote the following on the "Black Conservatives Group" in response to Howard Deans' comment that the GOP was too white:

I live in Pennsylvania near the Ohio border. In the 2006 election, the Republican candidate for Governor in PA was Lynn Swann who, the last time I looked, was Black. He got 40% of the vote -- and 90$ of those votes (36% of the total) came from white people.

Something very similar happened in Ohio, where African-American Ken Blackwell ran against a white guy (Strickland), who picked up more than four-of-five Black votes. Michael Steele, also a Black man, ran against a white guy for Senate in Maryland. Steele was far the superior candidate and he got a majority of the white votes, but he was buried under votes from the Black community that went to the white guy.

I supported Swann, Blackwell, and Steele because they were better candidates -- and much better men.

In PA, Ed Rendell funneled three-quarters of a million in street money, mainly into Black wards in Philly, Pittsburgh, and Harrisburg -- basically a "dollars-for-votes" scheme. Rendell did very, very well in those communities.

As long as voters -- Black and white -- reject good candidates for bad ones, our politics will remain in a shambles. It's tragic, because it means that in many African-American areas things will NEVER get better -- until and unless people smarten up.

Obama's Effect on GOP Candidates

The following paragraphs discuss races involving John McCain, Melissa Hart, Tom Manion, Toni Gilhooley . . . and Marina Kats.

I'll have a new column up on Tuesday evening (and it will function as the Wed. a.m. column). In the meantime, I have two column on other blogs that may be of interest). The first one is at: http://camp2008victorya.blogspot.com. It deals with "Seven Reasons Obama Will Lose "(nationally). Of course, it's critical for Pennsylvania congressional candidates that John McCain win this state -- and hopefully, win it big. To a large extent, "as McCain goes, so go the congressional challengers."

Another column discusses my political relationships -- over the past three months -- with Hillary Clinton Supporters who will -- or, in some cases -- may support John McCain. In several congressional races -- including Hart-Altmire, Manion-Murphy, and Gilhooley-Holden -- the Democrat basically stabbed Mrs. Clinton in the back. The Republican candidates need to exploit that face -- and even make it part of their advertising campaign. No Democrat in Pennsylvania or elsewhere can support Barack H. Obama without carrying some of the baggage he brings.

Also, I hope Marina Kats keeping asking her opponent, Schwartz, if she supports Obama, including his contempt for Pennsylvanians outside urban areas.

Tomorrow (Thursday) More about an important congressional race in PA's 7th district (Delaware County and adjacent areas) between Rep. Joe Sestak and challenger Craig Williams. Frankly, Craig Williams, a Marine, is a courageous and thoughtful man. Sestak is an ex-soldier who's determined the best path to a Beltway political career is to join with Nancy Pelosi and John Murtha in endangering the lives of American servicemen and servicewomen.

Bulletin: Rasmussen: McCain Trusted More Than Obama On 9 Out of 14 Electoral Issues

Like Speaker Pelosi, Sestak believes the best solution to $4 a gallon gasoline is to do nothing. Sestak is great political fundraiser (see OpenSecrets.com), which means he's learned the "Beltway Trick": sell out to every special interest group that shows up with a bag-full of money. He should be ashamed of himself, but of course shame is not the Democrats' strong suit.

Another important race is taking place in Pennsylvania's 4th district, where I live. This district is one that consists mainly of moderate-to-conservative Democrats and conservative Republicans. "Our" representative is Jason Altmire, who masquerades as a moderate -- but always votes the Pelosi-line on important matters.

In 2006, Altmire -- an overweight individuals who sneers a lot -- ran as something of a hawk on military matters. He said he opposed a "timetable" for withdrawal on Iraq. He added that he would base his views on information received from "commanders-on-the-ground" in Iraq. He used this stance to narrowly defeat Congresswoman Melissa Hart -- his opponent again this year.

After the election, Altmire sang a different tune. The recipient of huge direct and indirect contributions for John Murtha, Altmire described the Johnstown congressman as his "campaign manager." The same lobbyists who have paid off Murtha for years have found a "new friend" in Jason Altmire.

In D.C., he moved quickly to vote with Murtha in calling for a withdrawal timetable. Like Murtha and Pelosi, he ignored guidance from commanders on the ground. The underlying message to people in the 4th district was, "Fooled ya, didn't I?"

How much has Altmire deviated from Pelosi's far-left line? Not all all. In fact, columnist Robert Novak said of Altmire that "he doesn't have a conservative bone in his body." Of course, Altmire's re-election depends on keeping that fundamental reality hidden from his constituents.

How does Altmire stand on the crucial issue of bringing gas prices down by encouraging domestic energy production? He claims he's all for such production. However, he never votes for it. He acts as if energy is not a problem. He has no coherent view of how America can stop spending a good chunk of its national wealth on foreign oil.

POLITICAL BOSS TO BUCK LEADERSHIP

Will his actions finally match his rhetoric?

Cranberry Township, PA – In light of recent reports that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has given Jason Altmire the green light to buck her will and that of the rest of the Washington, D.C. Democratic leadership, Melissa Hart issued a statement calling on Jason Altmire to end his refusal and immediately sign the American Energy Production and Exploration discharge petitions that are circulating in Congress. These petitions would bring the bills for more American supply up for a vote immediately.

“Altmire’s political boss, Speaker Pelosi has given him permission to disagree with her publicly, so let’s see some action. Jason Altmire has talked a lot about how much he would like to move this issue forward in the House - now he has the opportunity to put his name down on paper and prove that he wants a vote,” said Hart

According to House Democratic staff, Altmire’s new found independence is all part of Speaker Pelosi’s plan:

“Democratic House aides say the energy agenda has been carefully gamed out in strategy sessions, and Pelosi always intended to take heat on gas prices while tacitly encouraging more vulnerable Democrats to publicly disagree with her and show their independence.

Freshman Democrats like Jason Altmire of Pennsylvania and Don Cazayoux of Louisiana have taken her up on the offer.” The Politico, 8/5/08

“There have been a number of good proposals introduced in the House for over a year, Altmire did not support them and Pelosi would not allow even one vote on any of them. In fact, Altmire blocked efforts to bring these bills up for a vote as recently as last week. If Altmire’s nifty new pro-drilling position is more than desperate rhetoric, he will sign the discharge petitions and ensure there is an immediate up-or-down vote, so our country can begin on the path to American energy independence. The voters in Western Pennsylvania have been begging for this for a long time, but we aren’t foolish enough to hold our breath where Altmire is concerned,” stated Hart.

There are currently seven discharge petitions circulating for legislation that will open America’s oceans to energy exploration, open new American oil refineries, and invest in clean energy sources such as wind, nuclear, and captured carbon dioxide. When the necessary 218 signatures are obtained on the petition, Speaker Pelosi would be forced to have an up or down vote on the bill.

“I’ve yet to see or hear anything from Altmire to explain the timing of this brand new position, so I’m left to think, as are the rest of the voters that the only logical reason is it was politically expedient. This situation raises the real issue at hand – do the voters want a Congressman that will represent them all the time, or just when their political boss gives him the go ahead?”

Altmire, Murphy, Holden Backstabbed Clinton

If you're a GOP challenger, can you really get a huge chunk of Hillary Supporters to vote for you? Sure. In the case of congressmen like Altmire, Murphy, and Holden, they stabbed Hillary in the back, going against the wishes of their constituents. Also, they received money, apparently in exchange for their support ($10,000 to Altmire, $18,000 to Murphy). Holden didn't receive money, but he refused to support Hillary, the obvious choice of voters in his district. During the campaign, Sen. Clinton was subject to charges that she was a war-monger, a liar, and a racist. Those charges, as former Pres. Clinton and others noted, derived ultimately from the Obama camp. Misogyny was rampant in the effort to destroy Mrs. Clinton. What were the reactions of Altmire, Murphy, and Holden to the dirty campaigning? They had none -- perhaps because they themselves use sleazy campaign tactics. Point these facts out to voters in your district. When Altmire and his slime-ball associates start hurling mud at Melissa Hart, as they will, I hope she responds something like this: "Jason Altmire is using the same kind of hateful mud-slinging and name-calling that his 'boy' Obama did to destroy Hillary Clinton." Mention her name often when Altmire and his 527s start throwing the pig-slog. Why will Jason bring out the mud-machine? Because he has a record of tax hikes and gas-price inaction that he doesn't want to discuss with PA voters. No Hillary Clinton backer with any self-respect will vote for Jason Altmire. My online associate Dr. Lynette Long sent out the following message today about Democratic congressional and senatorial officeholders who basically stabbed Sen. Hillary Clinton in the back. She says as follows:

Mike is a classic PA Democrat, dumb as a doorknob. [The following was sent to congressional candidates and staff members in PA, IL, CA, and elsewhere.]

The information Stacy provides [scroll down] will be useful as you draw-and-quarter your opponents on the energy question. Her reply focuses on Jason Altmire, a human slug, but it applies to Democrats generally on energy.

I continue to work everyday on "NoBama" efforts, and I believe they will pay dividends for our congressional and senatorial candidates. Clinton Democrats (many of them are really "Reagan Democrats") are asking me which Democratic Superdelegates (e.g., Altmire and Murphy) stabbed Hillary in the back, and I'm providing the information.

If you or your staffs want to look for useful information on this subject, you can find it at: http://dncreform.com. It shows which congressional reps and Senators (Kerry, Kennedy, Rockefeller, Bob Casey, others) favored Obama and how much money they got from the Obama Campaign. One way to stay off that kind of "hit" list is to do what Cong. Tim Holden did and NEVER declare.

The list consists mainly of congressmen whose districts (Altmire, Murphy) went heavily for Clinton but whose endorsements Obama. I hope Melissa Hart says, "Jason Altmire stabbed Mrs. Clinton in the back," or, "Jason kicked Sen. Clinton under the bus for his own political advantage." No Hillary Supporter in his or her right mind would vote for Altmire (or Murphy, or Holden, or Sen. Dick Durbin, or Pelosi).

Of course, someone like Tom Manion can use the same charges against Patrick Murphy, who strongly supports Obama even though his district went massively for Hillary Clinton. There is growing understanding among Hillary Supporters that people like Murphy and Altmire have real contempt for most Democrats.

In districts where a delegate/representative endorsed Mrs. Clinton, the congressmen are still vulnerable because they're generally allies of individuals (Pelosi and others) who are perceived as having shafted Sen. Clinton.

Overall, the Democrats remain totally vulnerable on gas prices. Obama's solution (and they will all follow his lead) is to do nothing and let gas prices double, so as to ensure "conservation." Of course, that would wreck the economy and destroy 10 million jobs, so it's not really a good "solution."

Stacy says to Mike [the Democrat], "You are being misleading saying that Melissa Hart and Congress did nothing [in the past on energy]. I continue to do research on this subject and I found out some interesting things.


"12/1/2001-House was controlled by Reps., but Senate was controlled by Dems. House passed Energy plan that included drilling in ANWR as well as funding additional nuclear power. Senate Dems would not let the bill pass.

"2002: Senate again continued to kill a bill that would have drilled in ANWR, nuclear power, and tax incentives for alternative fuel.2003-Rep.controlled both Houses.

The bill AGAIN passed the House, but the Dems led by Senator Schumer killed the bill in a filibuster.I have plenty more examples and could continue to list them, but as far as I can tell Melissa Hart did her job in Congress.

"What has Jason Altmire done in the two years he has been in Congress with both houses being held by Dems?"

DEMOCRATS CAUSED HIGH GAS PRICES

Democrats caused high gas prices -- period. Barack Obama now has a pathetic commercial playing in Pennsylvania and elsewhere claiming that it would take 7 years for drilling offshore and in ANWR to generate increased domestic oil supplies.

I have news for the windbag Obama: if a Democratic President (Bill Clinton) hadn't vetoed legislation providing for ANWR drilling, we would have that oil -- and refined gasoline -- right now. Obama likes to mislead the public -- and so do the Democratic representatives and Senators whose solution to high gas prices is to do nothing.

I'm asking people like Melissa Hart, Tom Manion, Toni Gilhooley, Craig Williams, Marina Kats, and Lou Barletta to put up billboards on every highway in their district. In Melissa's District, they'll say: "Like High Gas Prices? Blame Jason Altmire. Vote Melissa Hart!"

I hope every candidate mentioned in this paragraph does something similar. The Democrats caused high gas prices for reasons that are incomprehensible, and their solution is to let them go higher -- much higher. They are short on ideas and long on rhetoric.

The American prople are getting extremely nervous: they realize that the Democrats' solution -- which is to do nothing -- could end up destroying our economy. If gas prices continue to rise, which people like Obama and his supporters think is a good thing, it could bring this country to its knees. Obama and congressional buddies call it "conservation". Sane people call it devastation.

No candidate is exploiting this issue more effectively than Melissa Hart, running against Jason Altimire in the 4th congressional district (where I happen to live). Altmire, who vote metronomically against increased domestic oil production and refining capacity. When will Altmire act to ease the pain at the pump?


Cranberry Township, PA – Today marks one month since the national average for the price of a gallon of gas hit $4.00. As Congress returns from its week-long vacation after a month of doing nothing to ease the pain at the pump the average price of gasoline has now reached an all-time high of $4.11 per gallon.

“I’m skeptical that any steps will be taken in this final congressional session before summer break that will help to reduce gas prices. Jason Altmire and his House leaders have yet to begin even talking about expanding American exploration or increasing American production capabilities. The topic of energy is not even on the Pelosi agenda this week. Priorities in Washington are completely out of sync with what Americans need,” stated Melissa Hart.

According to the Washington Post, Capitol Briefing, July 7, 2008:

“The House has a considerably lighter week on tap, as the chamber will consider dozens of uncontroversial bills on the suspension calendar and will also take a measure requiring the preservation of White House e-mails and bills creating a new national historic trail in New York and a new section of ‘National Wild and Scenic Rivers’ in Massachusetts.”

“Altmire continues to recite the Speaker Pelosi talking points about forcing companies to drill on 68 million acres they have leased where resources are lacking. He persists in promoting sham “use it or use it” legislation to end such leases as a way to increase domestic supply and make our country less dependent on foreign sources. This would do nothing and is in fact already law.”

Hart added, “Demanding that oil companies drill on the 68 million acres which do not contain significant resources is not a solution. It is simply a continuation of shameless political posturing. Congress must permit responsible drilling for oil and natural gas in the most promising areas – ANWR and the Outer Continental Shelf.”

Currently exploration is off limits on 97% or 1.7 billion acres of the United States Outer Continental Shelf and 94% or 658 million acres of federal land managed by the Bureau of Land Management.

“America needs more supply, we need more refining capabilities and we need it NOW. An overwhelming majority of the country supports expansion of domestic drilling. It’s time for Altmire to start listening to people that elected him, not his Washington DC leaders,” said Hart

According to a recent CNN/Opinion Research poll, 73% of Americans favor an expansion of offshore drilling for oil and natural gas in currently off-limits U.S. waters.

“Altmire has said NO to responsible drilling in ANWR, NO to exploration off our coasts, NO to opening other federal lands, and NO to new refineries. The ‘no we can’t’ approach is the wrong mind-set for our Congressman. Increasing domestic supply and pursuing the best alternatives for our energy future should be a priority mission for America. When this country comes together and makes this a priority, it can be done quickly and safely.”

“Each day the Congress wastes is another day that families, farmers, charities and business owners will continue to struggle with their increasing bills. There is no end in sight for truckers, delivery businesses, airlines, etc. The big challenges are only beginning now for those who use oil to heat their homes.”

Barack Obama's "Dukakis" Moment

My previous column was about the impending defeat of three PA Democratic congressmen: Jason Altmire, Patrick Murphy, and Tim Holden. Perhaps surprisingly, the picture below is going to play a role in those defeats. I label it "Obama's 'Dukakis' Moment." Recall the images of Michael Dukakis riding around in an ill-fitting helmet in a small tank -- a ridiculous grin on his face. It's becoming clear that Obama -- inexperienced, wildly liberal, and increasingly racist in his ads and statements -- is going to lose states like Pennsylvania, which he vilified in his "bitter" comments. That is good news for candidates like Melissa Hart, Tom Manion, and Toni Gilhooley. Read below for comments on the Democratic candidates' "Obama Problem."

On my other blogs today I'll be talking about Gov. Kathleen Sibelius' ridiculous comment that people who call the lightweight Obama "inexperienced" or "too liberal" are using code words for racism. Kathleen, that dog won't hunt anymore.


Kathleen, Obama is not only inexperienced and wildly liberal, it is he who is the racist. As Larry Johnson says in the following graph, Obama is also a coward -- a man who kicks his surrogates under the bus when it's to his political advantage.

"Judging from Barack’s behavior in the aftermath of [General Clark's] comments [critical of McCain] Clark may be having second thoughts. The North Vietnamese tortured John McCain for years but he resisted until he was physically broken and scarred for life. What did it take to make Barack crack? Some pointed criticism from Republicans. Barack was not hung by his arms and beaten by bamboo. Nonetheless, in a quintessential display of cowardice as a leader, he sold out Wesley Clark. Note to Clark–nice try General, but it is time to realize that Barack does not stand and take the fire. He cuts and runs. He is a coward. "


Note: More later Tuesday on why Jason Altmire is symbolic of the Democrats' problem this year. Jason is wrong on guns, wrong on gasoline prices, and wrong on choice of political companions (Obama, Pelosi, and Murtha). "And down goes Jason, down goes Jason," to paraphrase the radio call on the Ali-Frazier fight. He was rasie a gazillion dollars from special-interests but the voters will regard him with revulsion.

As you'll see at the beginning of this column, the goal here is not only to defeat Barack Obama, but also those who enabled him to steal the Democratic nomination from Hillary Clinton. High on the list of such people are Jason Altmire, Tim Holden, and Patrick Murphy. The candidates opposing these malicious individuals are Melissa Hart, Toni Gilhooley, and Tom Manion. They need your support.

Second Amendment: Hart Blasts Altmire, Pelosi

Also, their favorite presidential candidate, Obama, has a terrible record on gun rights, and if Altmire, Murphy, and Holden support him for President, they are misleading their constituents. An Obama presidency would set gun right back 200 years.

John McCain supports Second Amendment rights -- while Obama and Pelosi do not.It's that simple. No gun owner in his or her right mind can vote for Altmire, Murphy, or Holden, let alone an anti-gun extremist like Senator Durbin. The NRA and the Gun Owners of America (GOA) should laugh such people out of office.

(In Durbin's and Obama's cases, they basically have said they would appoint or vote for leftist judges who would disregard the Second Amendment, just as Clinton appointees Breyer and Ginsburg did.)

HART LAUDS SUPREME COURT RULING IN

SUPPORT OF SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS

“The United States Supreme Court made a very good and important decision today with its ruling on the Heller case. Now, citizens of Washington, D.C. can enjoy the same Constitutional rights as residents of the 50 states. This is likely the most important Second Amendment case of our time. The ruling is likely to spark legislative initiatives all over the country in the coming weeks to restore Second Amendment rights of many whose cities have infringed on the right of an individual to bear arms,” said Hart.

The last time the Supreme Court heard a case on the Second Amendment was in 1939. (United States v. Miller)

Democrats Against Second Amendment Rights

It's not even July yet, but this is an absolutely critical time for John McCain and other GOP candidates for federal office. I'm working harder than I ever have -- and it's all on the Internet. I am spending most of my time trying to get Hillary Supporters to back McCain and other GOP candidates (especially those facing incumbents who cynically backed Obama. For John McCain, if he can somehow get 5 million of the 18 million-plus Hillary Supporters, he will win.

Steve Sauerberg, M.D. - "If Senator Dick Durbin had his way, the Second Amendment would no longer exist."

"As a proud gun owner, I believe in the individual Constitutional right to keep and bear arms," said Republican Nominee for U.S. Senate Steve Sauerberg, M.D. "Today, the Supreme Court affirmed that right."

"If Senator Dick Durbin had his way, the Second Amendment would no longer exist," Sauerberg said.

"Senator Durbin approved judges who used their own beliefs to argue that the Second Amendment means basically nothing, and Senator Durbin opposed the judges who affirmed that Constitutional right to bear arms.

"Sauerberg believes existing gun laws sufficiently balance the need to protect individual rights with the public's desire to reduce gun violence. Sauerberg argued that aggressive prosecution, rather than further legislation, is the key to combating gun violence.

Sauerberg also reiterated his support of strict constructionist judges. "The next U.S. Senator from Illinois needs to insist that any new Judges have a common-sense approach to jurisprudence."

GA's Deborah Honeycutt: Fundraiser Supreme

Republican challengers like Melissa Hart, Toni Gilhooley, Tom Manion, Marina Kats, Dana Walsh, Steve Sauerberg, and others know that beating an incumbent Democrat is like drilling through a granite mountain. Dr. Deborah Honeycutt, a congressional candidate in GA's 13th district, apparently has a very big drill.

I posted the material below on Sunday, when most people are not in a blog-reading state of mind. I'll leave it up today and add more material late Monday. Deborah is a tremendous fund-raiser, and all candidates, especially challengers -- can learn from the ways she raises money.

Unfortunately, corruption is common among Democratic members of Congress, especially the Black Caucus, but that doesn't make the crooks easy to beat. If anyone can dislodge Scott (before he's lead off in leg irons), it's Deborah Honeycutt, one of the most remarkable women in the U.S. Keep reading to see how she's going about accomplishing her Herculean task.

And here you probably thought the most corrupt members of the House were either Howard Jefferson (with $90,000 of bribe money in his freezer, or Jack Murtha, who has used your tax dollars to enrich his major campaign contributors. But if you scroll down to the italicized section, you'll find the all-time champion of official corruption, GA Democratic Cong. David Scott, who is opposed by Deborah Honeycutt.

Almost every Republican congressional candidate running against a powerful Democrat incumbent has trouble raising enough money to get his or her message across. Dr. Deborah Honeycutt has no such problem. In 2008, she may generate more contributions than any other GOP candidate for the House. How has she done this?

Do I agree with Dr. Honeycutt, a staunch social conservative, on every issue? Nope -- but then again I don't agree with my wife (a supporter of Sen. Clinton) on everything. But Deborah Honeycutt has a clear outstanding of what's currently wrong with our country -- and how to fix those problems. This graduate of Illinois University Medical School is a thoroughly impressive woman.

In 2006, when she ran against David Scott, a totally self-serving man who votes to raise taxes but often "forgets" to pay his own, Honeycutt amazed the world by raising more than $1.3 million. This year she could conceivably raise more than $4 million.

She lost the 2006 race to Scott (a man who doesn't even live in his district!). According to Michael Barone in The Almanac of American Politics, the main reason for Honeycutt's loss was "lack of name recognition." The hard fact is that if people don't know who you are they're not likely to vote for you. This year, however, name recognition is not going to be a problem for Dr. Deb.

If you go to Open Secrets.org, you'll find fundraising information through March 31. You'll note that Scott has raised a little over $500,000 -- 80% of it from PACs. You'll also note that Honeycutt had raised nearly $1.7 million -- NONE OF IT FROM PACS. If she win the election, she would be the least PAC-tarnished candidate to serve in the last 100 years. (No, not all PACs are corrupt, but most of them are.)

Trust me, if the Political Action Committees were making contributions for "good government," the ethically-challenged and robotically Democratic Scott would have received nothing.

Aside from the huge amounts of money Honeycutt has received, you'll find similar situations in relation to PACs with Pennsylvania congressional Republicans -- Melissa Hart, Toni Gilhooley, Tom Manion, Marina Kats, Bill Russell, Craig Williams, and Lou Barletta. The PACs now that these people are superior candidates, but hey, the PAC-men will say, "Business is business." The PACs are buying access (a votes), not character and judgment.

Most incumbents -- take a look at Hart's opponent, Jason Altmire, or Gilhooley's opponent, Tim Holden -- get the vast majority of their money from PACs, (Often, they also get a good chunk oftheir donations from individuals associated with companies linked to the PACs -- as happens with Murtha and Altmire in their vast donations from University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.)

But how does Honeycutt raise huge sums of money? She gets it from individuals who believe in her and the causes she represents. Refreshing, huh?

Honeycutt has raised most of her money through mailings to "values voters" -- social conservatives, the kind of people who strongly supported Mike Huckabee. There are roughly 15 million such voters in the country, and Honeycutt is using her own mailing list and the lists of third-party fundraisers. It's obviously working very well. She's appealing to people who have an inclination to donate and a history of doing so. (That's the same reason I receive a lot of mail requests for money from John McCain and [many] others.)

A lot of Republican challengers have a terrible time raising money. One reason is that they're asking the wrong people. For challengers, the "wrong people" include the vast majority of PACs. The "wrong people" also include individuals, including Republicans, who need political favors from incumbent Democrats.

Is there a flip side to Honeycutt's focus on mailings to values voters? Yes, because to raise big money requires the expenditure of significant sums. Third-parties who have "golden" mailing lists don't provide their services for nothing.

You'll see on OpenSecrets.org that Honeycutt had expenditures by April of $1.5 million. I dearly hope a good part of that spending went for ad buys (TV and radio), as well as billboards. (Her opponent, Scott, owns an ad company and is famous for billboard ads; I'll explain later today how Honeycutt can use billboards AGAINST the "billboard-man.") The Scott-Honeycutt material on OpenSecrets is very worth examining.

Luckily for Honeycutt (although not for the country), Scott has heeded Nancy Pelosi's admonition to vote against all forms of domestic oil production. My suggestion to Deborah is that she might use that fact on her own billboards on the highways in suburban Atlanta. In short, she has Scott dead-to-rights on high gasoline prices, which will be the biggest issue in this year's campaigns.

To my candidate friends in PA, as well as those in Illinois, California, and elsewhere, Honeycutt is woth not just knowing about, but also studying. She is very, very good at what she does. And as you'll read later, she is good at many things other than just raising tons of cash.

P.S. What's the downside to using third-parties to raise funds from groups. If you don't have a strong link to the groups -- as Honeycutt does with evangelicals, the "values voters" -- you probably won't generate a lot of cash. Also, you may have spend one dollar for every two you raise. However, in my modest town of Ambridge, PA, if you give somebody a five-dollar bill and he hands you back a ten-spot, we call that a great deal.

Honeycutt's Opponent Rep. David Scott: Scum-of-the-Earth

Those of you who've read the above about Dr. Honeycutt may be wondering, "Gee, Steve, don't you have anything to say about her opponent, David Scott, the 13th district Congressman from Georgia, who actually lives in Washington, DC?" No, I have nothing nice to say about Scott, who is a step or two below being the scum of the earth. He's a persistent tax-evader and a violator of House rules on campaign finance. Below is the report of the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics and Washington, which lists Scott as one of the 22 most members of Congress.

Rep. David Scott (D-GA) is a third-term congressman, representing Georgia’s 13th district. Rep. Scott’s ethics issues stem from allegations of tax evasion and misuse of official resources for political campaign activity.

Tax Evasion

In 2003, Rep. Scott and his wife, Ms. Alfredia Scott, began missing federal income tax payments that now total nearly $154,000 and have failed to pay $23,200 in taxes on their Georgia home. In addition, their company Dayn-Mark Advertising, failed to pay over $4,600 in local and state taxes since 1998. At the same time the Scotts were failing to pay their taxes, they increased their stock holdings from $5,000 to about $67,000 and bought a $702,000 rowhouse in Washington D.C. More than 40 tax liens have been placed against Rep. Scott’s home and business.

Personal, Business and Campaign Finances

Since Rep. Scott’s first congressional bid in 2002, Rep. Scott’s wife, two daughters, his son-in-law and employees of Dayn-Mark have received disbursements from his campaign committee. From 2002 through the July 2007 FEC reporting period, Rep. Scott’s campaign committee paid a total of $124,795.98 to his wife, two daughters and son-in-law, and $491,382.00 to Dayn-Mark Advertising and its employees. Rep. Scott has reimbursed himself $98,952.75 for travel, billboards, and fund-raising expenses. In total, since 2002, Rep. Scott’s committee has disbursed $715,330.17 to his family, business, and himself. The payments to his family and company became larger and more frequent in 2003, around the same time Rep. Scott was falling behind on his taxes.

Rep. Scott, by failing to pay taxes on his home and business and by failing to pay property taxes on his Georgia home may have violated federal and state tax laws.

Misuse of official resources

In July 2007, The Politico reported that a staff member alleged Rep. Scott has misused his federally funded congressional staff and resources to run his political campaigns. The staffer, Robert Merrill, alleged that Rep. Scott had designated certain congressional employees to do only campaign work, that congressional employees often did campaign work on taxpayer time and used government office equipment, that on taxpayer time congressional employees engaged in political work from Rep. Scott’s advertising firm, and that these employees’ absences compromised the productivity of the congressional office.

By using congressional staff to engage in campaign activity on official time and with the use of official resources, Rep. Scott may have violated the prohibition on soliciting political contributions from employees, the prohibition on using appropriated funds for campaign activity, House ethics rules and the regulations of the Committee on House Administration.
