McCain Will Win Pennsylvania

These two individuals will be the next President and Vice-President of the US.

About the new Gallup Poll showing Obama ahead NATIONALLY among likely voters by 2% and ahead by a somewhat higher percentage among registered voters (in the "expanded" model):

I'll be writing more about Gallup's so-called "expanded" model, which contains some major flaws. The expanded model looks for a very high turnout among the "new" Democratic voters. We heard the same thing in 2004, where there was high Democratic turnout -- which was offset by extremely high Republican turnout.

We also heard in 2004 (from Gallup and others) that 8 out-of-9 Independent voters were breaking for Kerry, WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE ABSOLUTELY UNTRUE.

In 2004, Gallup also said Bush would win PA; he didn't; and that Kerry would win OH, which he didn't.The expanded model over-represents votes in a number of states that Obama is already going to win, including DC (not a state), California, New York, Illinois, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Michigan. It doesn't matter in terms of electoral vote whether he wins those states 51-49 or 90-10.

Also, the "expanded" model doesn't include the Bradley Effect, which means Obama polls better than he does on election day (as happened in the PA Primary). Ironically, Obama's own internal polls (showing PA as close) are probably a better model than Gallup's.

On "likely voters": In past elections, between one-in-four and one-in-five "likely voters" did not vote. Among registered voters, the ratio of non-voters is significantly higher. I believe Barack Obama probably will win a majority of the votes cast in the U.S. However, because he's getting a disproportionate number of those votes in states McCain is NOT contesting, the Republican candidate conceivably could win a majority of the electoral votes.

That's a major reason for Obama's panicked return to Pittsburgh, which is the wrong city for him to visit, since he's already going to win the 'Burgh. McCain and Palin are going to the right places (including Beaver County, Hershey, and State College).

Note: If John Kerry had gotten 150,000 more votes in Ohio, he would have won a majority of electoral votes. Yet countrywide, Bush still would have won by 2.9 million ballots.

If John McCain wins FL, OH, and PA, he will be the next President of the United States. Keep your eye on Zogby, which hit the 2000 race dead-center.

John McCain Denounces Obama's Lies

October 6, 2008Today in Albuquerque, NM, John McCain took those gloves off. While some had thought he would concentrate on Obama’s questionable associations they got none of that. Instead they got vintage McCain. Someone I have admired for many years and have been looking for. Some highlights before the article.

I set out on my own campaign for president many months ago. I promised at the beginning to be straight with the American people, knowing that even those who don’t agree with me on everything would expect at least that much. I didn’t just show up out of nowhere, after all — America knows me.

This is the agenda I have set before my fellow citizens. And the same standards of clarity and candor must now be applied to my opponent. Even at this late hour in the campaign, there are essential things we don’t know about Senator Obama or the record that he brings to this campaign.

We have all heard what he has said, but it is less clear what he has done or what he will do. What Senator Obama says today and what he has done in the past are often two different things. He has often changed his positions in this campaign, and the best way to determine where he would really take this country is to examine where he has tried to take it in the past.

Remarks By John McCain In Albuquerque, NM October 6, 2008

ARLINGTON, VA -- U.S. Senator John McCain today delivered the following remarks as prepared for delivery at the McCain-Palin 2008 rally in Albuquerque, New Mexico:

In less than a month, the American people will make a choice on where they want this country to go, and who they trust to lead us in a time of war and economic crisis. The time for debating and electioneering is drawing to a close. Soon it will be the time for choosing.

Today we have seen a reminder of the importance of that choice. The action Congress took last week to address our financial crisis was a tourniquet, but not a permanent solution. Today we are seeing the stock market fall, and the credit crisis spread to other parts of the world. Our economy is still hurting -- working families are worried about the price of groceries, the price of gas, keeping their jobs and paying their mortgage -- further action is needed. We need to restore confidence in our economy and in our government.

Washington is still on the wrong track and we still need change. The status quo is not on the ballot. We are going to see change in Washington. The question is: in what direction will we go? Will our country be a better place under the leadership of the next president -- a more secure, prosperous, and just society? Will you be better off, in the jobs you hold now and in the opportunities you hope for?

Will your sons and daughters grow up in the kind of country you wish for them, rising in the world and finding in their own lives the best of America? And which candidate's experience -- in government and in life -- makes him a more reliable leader for our country and commander in chief for our troops? Who is ready to lead? In a time of trouble and danger for our country, who will put our country first?

And though familiarity in politics can be both helpful to a candidate, or not so helpful, it does at least fill out the picture and answer the essential questions. You need to know who you're putting in the White House -- where the candidate came from and what he or she believes. And you need to know now, before it is time to choose.

In 21 months, during hundreds of speeches, town halls and debates, I have kept my promise to level with you about my plans to reform Washington and get this country moving again. As a senator, I've seen the corrupt ways of Washington in wasteful spending and other abuses of power, and as president I'm going to end them -- whatever it takes. I will propose and sign into law reforms to bring tax relief to the middle class and help to businesses so they can create jobs.

I will get the rising cost of food and gas under control. I will help families keep their home, and help students struggling to pay for college. I will make health care more accessible and affordable. I will impose a spending freeze on all but the most vital functions of government. I will review every agency of the federal government, improve those that need to be improved and eliminate those that aren't working for the American people. I will confront th e ten trillion-dollar debt that the federal government has run up, and balance the federal budget by the end of my term in office.

This is the agenda I have set before my fellow citizens. And the same standards of clarity and candor must now be applied to my opponent. Even at this late hour in the campaign, there are essential things we don't know about Senator Obama or the record that he brings to this campaign.

My opponent has invited serious questioning by announcing a few weeks ago that he would quote -- "take off the gloves." Since then, whenever I have questioned his policies or his record, he has called me a liar.

Rather than answer his critics, Senator Obama will try to distract you from noticing that he never answers the serious and legitimate questions he has been asked. But let me reply in the plainest terms I know. I don't need lessons about telling the truth to American people. And were I ever to need any improvement in that regard, I probably wouldn't seek advice from a Chicago politician.

My opponent's touchiness every time he is questioned about his record should make us only more concerned. For a guy who's already authored two memoirs, he's not exactly an open book.

It's as if somehow the usual rules don't apply, and where other candidates have to explain themselves and their records, Senator Obama seems to think he is above all that. Whatever the question, whatever the issue, there's always a back story with Senator Obama. All people want to know is: What has this man ever actually accomplished in government? What does he plan for America? In short: Who is the real Barack Obama? But ask such questions and all you get in response is another barrage of angry insults.

Our current economic crisis is a good case in point. What was his actual record in the years before the great economic crisis of our lifetimes?

This crisis started in our housing market in the form of subprime loans that were pushed on people who could not afford them. Bad mortgages were being backed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and it was only a matter of time before a contagion of unsustainable debt began to spread. This corruption was encouraged by Democrats in Congress, and abetted by Senator Obama.

Senator Obama has accused me of opposing regulation to avert this crisis. I guess he believes if a lie is big enough and repeated often enough it will be believed. But the truth is I was the one who called at the time for tighter restrictions on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that could have helped prevent this crisis from happening in the first place.

Senator Obama was silent on the regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and his Democratic allies in Congress opposed every effort to rein them in. As recently as September of last year he said that subprime loans had been, quote, "a good idea." Well, Senator Obama, that "good idea" has now plunged this country into the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.

To hear him talk now, you'd think he'd always opposed the dangerous practices at these institutions. But there is absolutely nothing in his record to suggest he did. He was surely familiar with the people who were creating this problem. The executives of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have advised him, and he has taken their money for his campaign.


He has received more money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac than any other senator in history, with the exception of the chairman of the committee overseeing them. Did he ever talk to the executives at Fannie and Freddie about these reckless loans? Did he ever discuss with them the stronger oversight I proposed?

If Senator Obama is such a champion of financial regulation, why didn't he support these regulations that could have prevented this crisis in the first place? He won't tell you, but you deserve an answer.

Even after he refused to lift a finger to prevent this crisis, when the crisis hit, he was missing in action. He didn't start making calls to round up votes until after the rescue bill failed in the House and the markets crashed. We continue to see the price of delay today as the markets continue to fall.

Today the DOW has fallen below 10,000. And yet, members of his own party said they felt no pressure to vote for the bill. Why didn't Senator Obama work to pass this bill from the start? Why did he let it fail and drag out this crisis for a full week before doing a thing to help pass it?

Again on taxes, we see a difference between what Senator Obama says today, what he said yesterday and what he has actually done. Over the course of this campaign, he has had many different plans to raise your taxes. During the Democratic primary, he promised to double taxes on every American with a dividend or an investment. He promised to raise payroll taxes. He promised higher taxes on electricity.

Now, Senator Obama claims he will give 95 percent of Americans tax relief. He actually promised the same thing when he was running for Senate in Illinois, but once elected he never introduced legislation to do so. Instead, he voted for the Democratic budget resolution that promised to raise taxes on people making just 42,000 dollars a year.

At the time, he even said his vote was intended to get "our nation's priorities back on track." If he's such a defender of the middle class, why did he vote to raise their taxes? Whatever
happened to the tax relief he promised them when he was a candidate for the Senate? And why should middle class Americans trust him to keep promises he has already broken?

Senator Obama and I both have differences with how President Bush has handled the economy. But he thinks taxes are too low, and I think spending is too high. The government's out of control spending has resulted in a weaker dollar, raising the cost of groceries and gasoline, and killing jobs.

I will veto pork barrel legislation and cut wasteful government spending. Senator Obama has a different plan. According to third party estimates, he will increase government spending by over 860 billion dollars. He has denied it, but he has refused to tell you how much he does plan to spend. What is the total of his increased spending? Americans deserve to know just how much more of their money Senator Obama intends to spend, and how much more debt he plans to burden them with.

Senator Obama has also criticized earmark spending, those wasteful pork barrel projects stuck in spending bills behind closed doors. And yet, despite his talk on the campaign trail, his actual record is full of requests for earmark projects. In his three short years in the Senate, he has requested nearly a billion dollars in pork projects for his state -- a million dollars for every day he's been in office.

Far from fighting earmarks in Congress, Senator Obama has been an eager participant in this corrupt system. In one instance, he sought more than 3 million dollars for a new projector at a planetarium in his hometown. Coincidentally, the chairman of that planetarium pledged to raise more than $200,000 for Senator Obama's campaign. We don't know if they ever discussed the money for the planetarium, and no one has asked Senator Obama. But even the appearance of this kind of insider-dealing disgusts Americans. I'm going to put a stop to that, my friends, if I'm President.

I have made every single donor to my campaign publicly available, while Senator Obama has taken in over 200 million dollars from undisclosed sources. We have already seen the potential for fraud because of his refusal to disclose his donors. His campaign had to return $33,000 in illegal foreign funds from Palestinian donors, and this weekend, we found out about another $28,000 in illegal donations. Why has Senator Obama refused to disclose the people who are funding his campaign? Again, the American people deserve answers.

On health care, Senator Obama has been misleading you about my plan to give you more money for health care, and he has been equally misleading about his own plans. He has said his goal is a single payer system where government is in charge of health care and bureaucrats stand between you and your doctor. Under the plan he has proposed, he will fine families that don't have the kind of health insurance that Senator Obama tells them to purchase. He will fine employers who do not offer the health insurance that he thinks they should offer.

What he doesn't say, and what nobody has asked, is how big his fines will be. What he doesn't want you to know is that with a small fine, his plan will encourage companies to just pay the fine, drop existing health care coverage for their employees and leave them with only one real option: government run health care.

Who is the real Senator Obama? Is he the candidate who promises to cut middle class taxes, or the politician who voted to raise middle class taxes? Is he the candidate who talks about regulation or the politician who took money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and turned a blind eye as they ran our economy into a ditch?

Is he the candidate who promises change, or is he the politician who has bought into everything that is wrong with Washington? We can't change the system with someone who's never fought the system.

Washington is on the wrong track and I'm going to set it right. The American people know my record. They know I am going to change Washington, because I've done it before. They know I'm going to reform our broken institutions in Washington and on Wall Street because I've done it before. They know I'm going to deliver relief to the middle class, because that's what I've done.

You don't have to hope that things will change when you vote for me. You know things will change, because I have been fighting for change in Washington my whole career. I've been fighting for you my whole life. That's what I'm going to do as President of the United States. Fight for you and put the government back on the side of the people.

1. TAX VOTE: Biden said McCain voted “the exact same way” as Obama to increase taxes on Americans earning just $42,000, but McCain DID NOT VOTE THAT WAY.

2. AHMEDINIJAD MEETING: Joe Biden lied when he said that Barack Obama never said that he would sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud Ahmedinijad of Iran. Barack Obama did say specifically, and Joe Biden attacked him for it.

3. OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING: Biden said, “Drill we must.” But Biden has opposed offshore drilling and even compared offshore drilling to “raping” the Outer Continental Shelf.”

4. TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of it’s passage.

5. OPPOSING CLEAN COAL: Biden says he’s always been for clean coal, but he just told a voter that he is against clean coal and any new coal plants in America and has a record of voting against clean coal and coal in the U.S. Senate.

6. ALERNATIVE ENERGY VOTES: According to FactCheck.org, Biden is exaggerating and overstating John McCain’s record voting for alternative energy when he says he voted against it 23 times.

7. HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on people's health insurance coverage -- they get a tax credit to offset any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is false

8. OIL TAXES: Biden falsely said Palin supported a windfall profits tax in Alaska -- she reformed the state tax and revenue system, it's not a windfall profits tax.

9. AFGHANISTAN / GEN. MCKIERNAN COMMENTS: Biden said that top military commander in Iraq said the principles of the surge could not be applied to Afghanistan, but the commander of NATO's International Security Assistance Force Gen. David D. McKiernan said that there were principles of the surge strategy, including working with tribes, that could be applied in Afghanistan.

10. REGULATION: Biden falsely said McCain weakened regulation -- he actually called for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie.

11. IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where John McCain has been proven right.

12. TAX INCREASES: Biden said Americans earning less than $250,000 wouldn’t see higher taxes, but the Obama-Biden tax plan would raise taxes on individuals making $200,000 or more.

13. BAILOUT: Biden said the economic rescue legislation matches the four principles that Obama laid out, but in reality it doesn’t meet two of the four principles that Obama outlined on Sept. 19, which were that it include an emergency economic stimulus package, and that it be part of “part of a globally coordinated effort with our partners in the G-20.”

14. REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won't pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan.

America's Economy is Basically Fine

Recently, John McCain said America's economic "fundamentals are good." Of course, Barack Obama and his horde of know-nothings immediately rushed out with a commercial indicating that McCain must be clueless because he was not presenting the kind of hysterical message we were hearing on CNN and MSNBC. As the article by Max Boot (an excerpt below) shows, what McCain said was factually (key word) correct.

Of course, in the world of BHO and David Axelrod, little matters like truth count for nothing -- and demagoguery counts for everything.

"What the pessimists ignore is that the fundamentals of the U.S. economy remain strong. Indeed, the World Economic Forum has ranked the United States as the world's most competitive economy for the last two years. (The new survey comes out next month.) Its statistics show that per-capita gross domestic product in the U.S. consistently has grown faster than in other developed economies since 1980.

Looking deeper at the causes of American competitiveness shows that we score especially strongly not only in domestic market size (No. 1 in the world) but also in such areas as time required to start a business (No. 3), venture capital availability (No. 1), the cost of firing an employee (No. 1), ownership of personal computers (No. 2), university/industry research collaboration (No. 1) and quality of scientific research institutions (No. 2).

"The availability of venture capital might be affected temporarily by the market turmoil, and we should worry if Democrats gain control of both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue in November because they might exacerbate what the survey found to be the two most "problematic" issues for doing business in the U.S. -- high tax rates and cumbersome tax regulations.

"But whatever happens in the next few months, most of the other advantages that have been powering the U.S. economy forward for decades will remain unchanged.

So too will another vital statistic: population growth. According to federal statistics, the fertility rate in the U.S., where each woman has on average 2.1 children, is now the highest among major industrialized economies. We are above replacement level while Europe, Japan and other industrialized economies have long been beneath it.

That means that, even as our major competitors have to cope with graying populations, declining productivity and increasing pension costs, our population will remain relatively youthful and vibrant, notwithstanding the retirement of the baby boomers. CAN MCCAIN REALLY WIN PA?

Senator John McCain, Gov. Sarah Palin, Bristol, and Trig.

Salena Zito's Tribune-Review article below (in boldface) is an on-target view of Pennsylvania. We also have the opportunity to do well in other communities, including Beaver County where I live, Butler County, Mercer, and Crawford (north and west of Pittsburgh). I don't think McCain will "have to let the money run" in PA. Bucks County (southeastern PA) is a key as Zito suggests. Strong congressional candidates in PA, especially Tom Manion againt Patrick Murphy and Melissa Hart against Jason Altmire, will help McCain. In Beaver County, which Hillary won by 28,000 to 12,000, we're already doing better than we imagined. Here, there are a large number of "undecided" voters, almost all of them Democrats contemplating a vote for McCain-Palin. The "Black issue" is a factor (Bradley Effect) but not as big a one as Zito (and Rendell) suggest. Obama described those of us in Western Pennsylvania as people who "cling" to their God and their Guns. We (like Gov. Palin) don't regard those characteristics as failings. He will live to eat those remarks.

Can McCain Really Win Pennsylvania?By Salena Zito, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review

The intelligent question thrown out among strategists for both campaigns is, can John McCain really win Pennsylvania?

Really win it, not pretend to go for it, as Republicans did in 2004, all the while closing the deal in Ohio when no one was looking.

The last Republican presidential candidate to win Pennsylvania was George H.W. Bush, in 1988 -- a win preceded by two Reagans but followed by two Clintons, a Gore and a Kerry. The Kerry win was narrower than the others, however.

Since this year's Pennsylvania primaries, many people have been schooled on the mechanics of how Democrats win this state. Call it the "Rendell rule": Stack up high numbers in the Philly collar counties, hold the losses to a minimum in the other 60, and try to win Allegheny for good measure.

Can Barack Obama pull off a Rendell?

Villanova University political science professor Bob Maranto says political undercurrents are playing against him. "This is an old state, demographically, and some older white voters will be reluctant to vote for a black candidate," he explains, "but there is something more at work. Even if they call themselves independents, most voters more or less automatically vote either Democratic or Republican."

Maranto calculates that the 20 percent or so of voters who really are up for grabs will use information about a candidate's background to make assumptions about his policy views.

Pennsylvanians don't see McCain in the "failed Bush policies" category by which Democrats try to define him. Instead, they see a war hero, a brand that resonates in the blue-collar areas where their unions are trying to persuade them otherwise.

"He is a guy you can depend on," said Tom Miller, 54, of Lancaster, a registered Democrat who is very comfortable voting for McCain. "He has had no problem bucking his own party and he does not ask me to make sacrifices that he isn't willing to make."

Add the stereotypes that some voters hold about black candidates and Obama dilutes the Rendell rule.

So, where can McCain offset traditional Democrat voting blocs?

In Allegheny, Bucks and Chester counties, where a large number of those voters live.
To win Allegheny, McCain must win the entire South Hills area minus Mt. Lebanon. He also must win the new suburban areas around the airport, as well as the Mon Valley, where poorer working white voters live. He can easily sweep the North Hills as well as the small river towns.

Achieve that, and McCain offsets Pittsburgh's black and elite-liberal numbers.

McCain also must win Bucks County, where he should have Sarah Palin establish residency in the large churches in the northern half while he camps out in southern Bucks.

Chester County will be the hardest. McCain won't win West Chester, but the rest of the county -- a one-time Republican stronghold -- is persuadable.

All three counties have healthy-sized veterans populaces, with lots of socially conservative labor-Catholic Democrats -- all voters that professor Maranto views as weaknesses for Obama.

Democrat analyst Larry Ceisler admits problems exist for Obama in counties like Washington, Beaver and Fayette, but he is not quite sold on the idea that McCain can win Allegheny, Chester and Bucks.

The unknown factor in Obama's favor is the latest statewide voter-registration number. Obama state director Craig Schirmer issued a statement last week touting 1 million-plus more registered Democrats than Republicans, double the lead of 2004.

Perhaps the bigger argument is that if McCain is posting Bush 2004 poll numbers in Pennsylvania in the waning days of this election, it indicates that Ohio, Indiana and Michigan are already lost to Obama. Pennsylvania is just that small percentage point more Democrat than her Rust-Belt sisters.

University of Virginia political science professor Larry Sabato says his tentative conclusion is that McCain should not allow the money to run in Pennsylvania unless he has unlimited resources, and instead should look west. His argument: If McCain is close in Pennsylvania, then he already is well above 300 Electoral College votes and won't need it to win.

And Sarah Palin was forced, by virtue of her audience, to stand silently at the microphone for a good five minutes before she began speaking – so warm and sincere was the enthusiasm expressed by those who came to hear her.

"By far, the greatest reaction of the afternoon occurred shortly after Senator McCain stepped up to the microphone and said, ‘I am privileged to have been introduced to you by Sarah Palin. But I am looking forward even more to introducing Sarah Palin to Washington D.C.’… at which point seven thousand south-central Pennsylvanians lost their composure, and the cheers and applause were (literally) deafening. Once the din subsided, a powerful chant of ‘Sa-rah! Sa-rah! Sa-rah!’ filled the hall. And John McCain had to stand silently while the enthusiastic support being shown his running mate ran its course."

Palin: Obama's, Biden's Worst Nightmare

On the Plain choice: I had a short post up at 2:30 a.m. that said I had information (from Sharon and one other) that Gov. Palin and her two teen-age daughters and perhaps others had flown from Anchorage to Dayton, where she would be named Friday as McCain's running mate. The story came from people who put two-and-two together, and the media was still falling all over itself at 11 a.m. this morning.

Charles Krauthammer said at 11 McCain should choose Fred Thompson. Good God!

At that point, I said to my wife we already had enough old white guys (Biden, McCain) and we needed a woman, preferably Sarah . I went to sleep Friday morning believing it was Sarah and woke up to her picture on the screen on FOX (and others).

I never bought the Campaign's decoy statement that, well, everybody on the list was flying in (Romney, Pawlenty, Huckabee, the Easter Bunny, Peter Rabbit). It made no sense, but many reporters bought it. Did they believe McCain was going to have a parade of also-rans?

The national media -- generally a bunch of lazy oafs -- was mad on Friday because nobody told them first. Charles Cameron of FOX was the only one early this a.m. who did a process of elimination and came up with Sarah. Then, the other people at FOX and CNN (and the idiots at MSNBC) dropped the ball.

They thought it couldn't be Sarah because she wasn't on their list . . . and so how could he dare to nominate this (wonderful) woman they knew nothing about. Amazing.

When she gave the speech -- she had given others the media had ignored -- everyone knew immediately "how" McCain could select her. With the speech and that amazing family -- the working-class husband, the beautiful, unintimidated children -- Sarah blew everyone out of the water.

Gee, where's she been?" Good question. Sometimes the very best things are invisible even though they're right in front of us.

Sarah is Barack Obama's worst nightmare. She is an ethical person. She is extremely tough physically, psychologically, and spiritually. She will beat Biden up very badly. He's a windbag, and she's a breath of fresh air.

Biden got 9,000 votes in the Primary. Mrs. Clinton got 18 million. Go figure.

Shell-Shocked Democrats Cry "Enough!"

As you've noticed, I'm printing one letter after another from people (mostly women, but some men) who have left the Democratic Party. I just received the following from (former) Democrat "Mary": "It is Hillary or McCain for me, and I will switch to Independent when this is all over." Mary

People like Mary are doing what they're doing because they're disgusted by the fraud and deceit in the primaries, particularly in the caucus states, where Obama used "Chicago Politics" to seize victories. They're also leaving because they're finally getting an understanding that the Party of FDR and JFK is as dead as a skunk run over by an 18-wheeler. Some of them people are becoming Indepedents, Republicans, or even Libertarians. Others are so by their Party's lack of patriotism, concern for America's future, or even regard for human life that they're shell-shocked. Previously, I've posted pieces by Lyn from Texas and Pam from New Jersey, and I urge you to read them. The following is from a brilliant young woman named Michelle, who posts on a Yahoo Group called "Eighteen Million Hillary Supporters." Now, she's committed to the one man of courage and integrity left in the race: John McCain. If you're a candidate yourself, these are voters you want. They see that the Democrat Party has no real connection with American values.


On the Yahoo Group, I told Michelle to stop responding to one dim-witted Democrat who responded to her thoughtful posts with soporific replies. She said:

"I'm beginning to see that. I have a feeling my post [one on stem-cell research] will be ignored, but that's typical. He is what people are seeing when they think "Democrat." I think a lot of the average folks are more FDR-type Democrats, but the extremists are really taking over and the lack of honesty and intellegence is truly frustrating. They are certainly louder, but that's a shame because most of what they screech is just plain stupid. It's like they have cue cards and just hit repeat ad nauseum."

The following is what Michelle wrote when she found out Obama favors something called "live-birth abortion." This happens in botched abortions when the child is born alive. Obama's position is that the infant should be allowed to die without receiving medical care. Michelle said:

"This is the most horrific thing I have ever heard. It's one thing for abortion to be legal, but this is pure and simple birthing- to-murder. This is something I would expect out of Germany circa 1940. And I HATE that all encompassing 'Hitler' comparison, so I am not comparing Barack to Hitler. I am comparing this act of Infanticide to Nazi Germany."

As Michelle suggests, this is today's Democrat Party, one dominated by ignorance and a disregard for human life. It's not a Party Pennsylvanians can identity with; it's not a Party Americans will vote into the White House.

"I will be water boarded before I vote for Obama. After what the DNC disenfranchised their own party members. I will be an independent after the convention. I will no longer be a Democrat. I am tired of the McGovern, Dukakis, Mondale and Kerry selections. Also, that human piece of garbage Jimmy Carter, who did a lousy job. We are not a Parliamentary system. Has anyone thought of why Obama wrote an autobiography at 29 years old. I thought only people who were terminally ill wrote an autobiography before 30. Barry is going down this November."

Patriotic, Disgusted Dems Leave Party

This first e-mail below is from Pam, who lives in New Jersey. What she says holds for many "Democrats," who increasingly will become "former Democrats." Another of my correspondents has that as a screen name: "fomerdemocrat." It's more of an intellectual and spiritual transformation than a case of marching to the courthouse to change registration. You'll hear from two courageous women, Bev Perlson and Debra Bartoshevich, who urge "Americans," men and women, not to vote for the pompous windbag Obama. They both illustrate the transformation going on in Pennsylvania and nationally.

Pam Says: You have done your job well. I don't know what to think of some of these people. Things change and I think the Democratic party has changed and is GONE. Get on with life and see where the Republican party will take you. I need structure, I need someone who knows what he is doing and not fidgeting in the dark. You are right.

his election is going to separate the boys from the men the girls from the women. What do you really want for you and your families' lives? I want what our forefathers wrote down in the constitution and BO has done everything but re-write the constitution and that is NOT GOING TO BE DONE ON MY WATCH.

I do understand your fatigue and you have been a good warrior. I will go into the hospital Tuesday for knee replacement and then be home until labor day. I will be going back to work then.

Things have to change on these boards after the convention. People have to get up and do and stay behind to suffer what BO can do.

I think of your often and praise all you have done in the name of your country. Stay calm, cool and collected. You have done a lot for McCain and he rewarded you well last night. He made a wonderful showing. I think the Republican party will be changing also for the good of the people with McCain...You have done a proud job for the party and your country. My hat is off to you sir. You take care and stay well. -- Pam

The following letter is from disgusted former Democrat Lyn in Texas:

I actually agree with everything you have said [about the Democratic Party becoming a menance to decent Americans]. I think my signature at the bottom of the email says all when it comes to the party. There is not one and sadyly I am realizing there are many views of the Democrats that I do not agree with anymore.

Many of us, including myself, are signed up as volunteers for Senator McCain off his official website. It was done befor all the side sites started up for Clintons for McCain. Once the [Denver] convention is over, I will have more time to focus on those sites. Senator McCain is someone I can respect and I will never have that for Obama, regardless of the other issues.

And, I am working night and day on all. I still believe that Hillary should be on the ballot, and yes she will probably lose, but it is her right and we will fight for that, and there are many that will hope for the win. I, too, do not see it happening but I will go down fighting for her to have her name recorded in nomination, instead of a present vote, which is what it would be if the nomination process is not carried through.

I personally think there was a fix after Obama's [2004] convention speech that made him known to the world. The next day there was an article written by Donna Brazille talking about the Obama factor in the next race. Hillary sure was not mentioned and others as well were ignored.

I am working with someone on something that I cannot go into details about. We hope to start it up in a couple of weeks and it will be focused on getting Democrats in battleground states to vote McCain. I really wish McCain would open a Ft. Worth office so I could go to work there; otherwise, my time is going to be limited as I have to get back to work when school starts and get some cash flow going. I have been off work all year so I have been able to do this but cash wise...am hurting.

Also working against John Kerry. So I would love to see your friend's Kerry info. If you are for him, I am sorry but the one hearing I have of him showed me he is not in touch with the people any more. I actually am trying to find someone to do a Youtube of a presentation i have put together but everyone is busy. [Note from Steve: I support Jeff Beaty, the Republican, against John Kerry.]

We also do have a list of traitors. I had already compiled a list of the states she won and the ones that endorsed Obama from those states. They will not be forgotten.

But you are right, people deserve what they get. Too many are falling in line because it is their party. I think that we can get some of them over to McCain. Not that it matters, but I already planned to write Barr when it gets closer and we know more what he is polling...one of those for the good of the country, endorse McCain.

Do not let Obama win. I mean really these guys know they don't have a chance but I know Barr is going to take away from John.

There are a 1000 emails going out tonight to editors all over the country re: nomination process and that if Obama does win it, then people need to be voting for the McCain. Otherwise, Obama is going to ruin the country. Actually trying to put some letters together now.

Guess I better get back to work. I cannot remember the last time I have gotten to sleep before 6 am but I need to try tonight. -- Lyn

Pam, who has a physical ailment and Lyn are working their hearts out -- Lyn staying up till 6 a.m. -- to ensure the defeat of Barack H. Obama. I salute them both.

McCain Draws Even in Gallup Poll!

McCain's continued strong performance in the national polls (see below) has positive implications for GOP candidates around the country. Obama has a big lead in three large states -- Illinois, New York, and California, as well as a huge lead in the District of Columbia -- and that suggests McCain is doing well in most of the other 47 states. McCain has a decent chance to win PA, OH, VA, FL, MI, MN, and CO -- all battleground states. PA's GOP candidates must emphasize that they are strongly "NoBama."

The Aug. 12-14 polling shows a slight dip in Obama's support, which had ranged between 46% and 48% (averaging 47%) in August. McCain has averaged 43% support among registered voters so far in August. Thus, the closer margin seen in today's results is due more to movement away from Obama than toward McCain. Twelve percent of registered voters now say they are undecided or supporting another candidate, which is on the high end of what Gallup has measured this year.

Voter preferences have been closely divided between Obama and McCain in each of the last three individual nights of polling, underscoring the notion that the race has tightened for the moment. This could to some degree reflect Obama's absence from the campaign trail while he vacations in Hawaii. He will return to the spotlight over the next few weeks upon naming his vice presidential running mate and accepting his party's nomination for president at the Democratic national convention, and both events have typically been associated with a bounce in support for a presidential candidate.

On Thursday, the Obama and Hillary Clinton campaigns announced an agreement to put her name into nomination for president at the convention. Given that the race has been tight for the past few days, it is unlikely this announcement is related to any change in Obama's support.

"McCain, not Hussein"

Bulletin: Right now on TV in PA, Obama is counter-attacking McCain's commercial blaming BHO for high gas prices. (McCain was using a metaphor, tying Obama to all those extremely liberal legislators who never want to produce another kilowatt or barrel of energy.) McCain was correct, and the clueless Obama doesn't even know why. I believe very much in wind and solar -- so does McCain -- but they will be big about 2035 or 2040. Between then and now, we are going to need a lot of energy, and Barack's idea of solving the problem is to let gasoline go to, oh, say, $7-$8 a gallon. Obama has no energy plan, and Emperor Barack has no clothes.

About the "your wallet" bumper sticker, I sent the following message today (Monday) to GOP candidates and their supporters:

I hope all GOP candidates for the House and Senate will start printing and distributing these bumper stickers. Hand them out at friendly gas stations! This is a winning approach! Volunteers in PA and elsewhere need to get them and distribute. This is a low-cost, high-impact tactic, and it could get media coverage. This kind of hard-hitting approach is essential in a year when we've got all the brains and they've got all the money. "McCain, not Hussein."

Yes, some people will mindlessly vote Democratic this year -- just as a few will mindlessly vote Republican. However, there's more fluidity in the parties this year than ever before, as exemplified by the millions of Hillary Clinton Supporters who will NOT vote for Barack Hussein Obama. This is the time -- this is the election -- for Republican candidates like Melissa Hart, Toni Gilhooley, Tom Manion, Craig Williams, and Marina Kats to reach out to Democrats.

Marina Kats is a Jew running against Allyson Schwartz, also a Jew. But it will be Schwartz who is supporting a candidate, Barack Obama, who's surrounded himself with enemies of the state of Israel, including -- mostly recently -- David Bonior. Obama's military adviser, one Merrill McPeak, has blamed Jews in Miami and New York for the lack of peace in the Mideast. This is a disgrace, although I doubt Allyson Schwartz, whose mother escaped the Nazis and fled to America, is going to call it that. Whatever principles Schwartz may have inherited, she shed long ago.

Consider the following about the value of country over party:

Debbie Bartoshevich is a former Democratic delegate from Wisconsin who supported Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, and vowed to vote for Sen. John McCain. The Wisconsin Democratic Party took away her convention credentials.

Now she's speaking to the press (watch HERE.)

"I have a right to vote for anybody I want to vote for," she says. "I'm putting my country before my party...I'm finished with the party, the Democrat party."

Clearly, the DNC has forgotten what country this is. Ms. Bartoshevich is right to leave the Party, which actually left her and other normal Americans long ago.

Frankly, it's time for Pennsylvania Democrats to proclaim that they're Americans first -- and they will not vote for anyone who doesn't understand that simple fact.

I received the following note from a young friend today. He has decided to support Obama, and he says :

"Steve, Having been a good blogging friend with you for the last year, I wanted to tell you something before it goes up on my blog within the week. I've decided to support Barack Obama this election. It was not an easy decision and one I do not enjoy making. I really feel that McCain has lost what made McCain great fighting the far left and the far right in equal measure. But I still respect him and all of his supporters including you alot. I'm still calling myself a Republican but the party I joined has gotten off track and I'm hoping Obama will take this nation in a place where I know Republicans will not. I've haven't always been a conventional Republican in my politics but I will continue my political journey and hope to count you as a friend now and in the future."

Here's my response to Christopher:

Christopher, I find your support for Obama (which I've seen coming) quite mystifying. Which of his "accomplishments" impresses you most? His proposal to invade Pakistan (an ally and a nation with nuclear weapons?) or his "option" to reinvade Iraq?), or his vague suggestion to AIPAC that he might use nuclear weapons against Iran? You are young, Christopher, and you've been "rolled" by a skillful orator.

John McCain has been a leader in campaign finance reform, educational reform, and comprehensive immigration reform, which Obama has not. He has been a leader in the attempt to reduce global warming, which Obama has not. He supports producing more domestic energy, which Obama does not.

He supported the surge, which has worked, while Obama did not support it and seems clueless about its great success.

I wrote the mission statement for Mission NoBama that said Obama is inexperienced (which he is), unqualified (he hasn't even been a U.S. Senator for one term), untrustworthy (just ask his former friends on the far left), and dangerous (as in his plans to invade Pakistan, reinvade Iraq, and do "everything . . . everything" to keep Iran from developing a nuke).

The man is dangerous, Christopher. Do you deny that, and if so, on what basis?

Many people this year will support Barack Obama, mainly on the basis of his eloquent, but empty, rhetoric. They will offer such support for various reasons, but given the points I've made (not opinions) they will not be able to do so in good conscience.

Dems: 10 Buck Gas, Economic Depression

Let's see, wasn't Jimmy Carter's solution to the energy crisis of the 70s for us all to wear thick sweaters and two pairs of socks?

Gasoline at ten bucks a gallon? Just wait. Obama and Pelosi think it would be a great idea. If you can, please put this column up on your web site or blog.

Barack Obama is now running commercials in PA on his "energy plan," which is to do nothing, let gas prices rise to $10 a gallon, and generate an economic catastrophe. I'm not making this up.

The Dems -- your opponents and McCain's -- have totally sold out to the worst forms of environmental extremists. They've accepted a form of environmentalism that excludes human beings. They are as close as it gets to being downright evil.

That is Obama's plan, and it is the absurd plan of every Democrat running for Congress in Pennsylvania. They have lost their blankety-blank minds. They should ALL lose, and I believe in fact they will -- if you get the energy message across. On one of my "HillarySupporters" sites, a woman said she wouldn't vote for John McCain because he supports drilling in the OCS. The following is my reply to her.

I'll be writing on all these issues on my "national" blogs. On coastal drilling, the position of Barack Obama and, sadly, most Democrats is that we should rely on Hugo Chavez and the Sheiks of Araby for our energy security. That will not fly -- even with the sheiks of Araby. What Obama (and, alas, many other Democrats) are advocating is that we do nothing (and I'm not kidding) until gasoline goes up to, say, $10 a gallon. Then, we naughty Americans with our SUVs (note: I don't own a car) will be forced to practice "conservation."

Of course, under a President Obama, our economy would be wrecked and food prices will have doubled and there will be chaos throughout the land. Am I exaggerating? I don't think so.

John McCain clearly agrees with my dire prediction, and that's why he supports producing and refining our own oil. He also believes in nuclear energy, which basically produces no greenhouse gases. In PA yesterday, he advocated advanced technology that will result in "clean coal," a development that's necessary to protect tens of thousands of mining jobs in Appalachia. Your amiable local Democratic congressman opposes all of these steps. McCain is right -- you are right -- and the "Obama-kins" are dead wrong.

Obama's do-nothing plan would lead to an utter catastrophe. All those "good-paying jobs" Democratic candidates like to talk about in Ohio, Michigan, and PA would disappear, and we would exoerience another Great Depression. Some solution! I'd love to debate before 75,000 people at Obama's coming Invesco Field (Denver) coronation, but he wants nothing to do with people like me who have his number. .

Steve adds: Promises, promises, I know. I will be writing soon about the campaigns of Marina Kats and Craig Williams, both of whom recognize the urgent need for American to produce and refine as much of our own oil as possible. In my own district (Melissa Hart's) and in Tom Manion's and Craig William's districts, I'm asking candidates to wake up any American voters that may be asleep. What the Democrats are in fact advocating can destroy our country. I don't believe the Dems' ludicrous "talking points" cover that reality.

Please -- if can give even $10 to each of the GOP candidates highlighed, please do so. Frankly, if they get elected, you'll save a lot more than $10 on gasoline alone. Get involved before you get run over by the Dems' mindless "energy policy."

Can candidates like Toni Gilhooley, Melissa Hart, Tom Manion, Marina Kats, Lou Barletta and others pick up thousands -- and tens of thousands -- of Hillary Supporters? You bet your bippy they can -- and will -- if they reach out aggressively and compassionately to "Hillary" voters (more about this in coming days). On one huge Yahoo Group, there was a report that Barack Obama wanted to throw Nancy Pelosi under the bus and replace her as Speaker with Rahm Emmanuel, an Illinois congressman and Obama sycophant. The following is a response from one staunch Hillaryite: "Oh PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GODS OF THE GOVERNMENT, let this be true!!!! Backstabbing Nancy needs to be first in line for the Obama backstab, followed by Richardson." Among the people Hillaryites are identifying as key "backstabbers" (a critical word) are: Jason Altmire (Hart's opponent), Patrick Murphy (Manion's opponent), and even Tim Holden (Gilhooley's opponent). Why is it so critical that John McCain wins Pennsylvania? One reason is that if he wins the Keystone State (and adds Ohio, as expected) he presumably will be President of the U.S. But there's another factor: if McCain wins PA big, he will bring along with him many congressional candidates, including Melissa Hart, Tom Manion, Toni Gilhooley, Lou Barletta, and perhaps others (maybe even including one of my favorite people, Marina Kats).

As many of you know, I've been focusing lately on building support for my favorite candidates from "Hillary Supporters," people who favored Hillary Clinton in the Democratic Primaries. That effort is bearing a lot of fruit. Many Hillary Supporters want to punish "SuperDelegates" who basically stabbed Sen. Clinton in the back. Such people include Hart's opponent, Jason Altmire, Gilhooley's opponent, Tim Holden, and Manion's opponent, Patrick Murphy. They have been targeted for defeat by many Hillary-Supportive sites, including http://www.dncreform.com/.

Recently, a group of Hillary Supporters asked me how they could help defeat Barack Obama in Pennsylvania. I sent them the following message:

"Pennsylvania is a major battleground state. Those of us in PA need to work together -- and we don't have to agree on everything -- to contact people in this state, mostly Dems and Independents, and make a good, simple case against Obama -- and for McCain. We need to contact our friends, family, and acquaintances not to vote for him. The Hillary Supporters in PA -- and 1.2 million-plus voted for her -- are the absolutely crucial group in McCain's carrying this state. Everyone on this (Yahoo) group knows someone in PA. Let them know your thoughts on the presidential election. If they don't want to vote, that's fine (sorta). But just urge them, in a friendly way, not to vote for Obama. John Murtha, a Hillary Supporter, said that Obama could not carry his district "right now." He also suggested Obama might not carry the state. The same is true in Ohio and perhaps even NJ. Let's keep it that way. Obama's poll "bounce" after becoming the presumptive nominee was like the thud of a bowling ball."

Of course, there's always one in every crowd, and a Hillary Supporter responded: "Hey, I live in Missouri. I don't know anybody in Pennsylvania." he also added that Obama's online effort was better than McCain's.

My response to him was as follows:

McCain recently shook up his staff and brought in a new person -- Steve Schmidt -- basically, to run the campaign, a very good move. He has also put Carly Fiorina, former head of H-P, in a role as his liaison to women's groups, particularly Hillary Supporters. I believe Meg Whitman of eBay is also working with women's groups. McCain is under heavy pressure to choose a woman as his V-P.

The web issue is a big one. It's partly generational, but the McCain campaign is getting better at it. The key "unofficial" site is: http://www.mccainnow.com/ . Barack Obama's "Dukakis" Moment

My previous column was about the impending defeat of three PA Democratic congressmen: Jason Altmire, Patrick Murphy, and Tim Holden. Perhaps surprisingly, the picture below is going to play a role in those defeats. I label it "Obama's 'Dukakis' Moment." Recall the images of Michael Dukakis riding around in an ill-fitting helmet in a small tank -- a ridiculous grin on his face. It's becoming clear that Obama -- inexperienced, wildly liberal, and increasingly racist in his ads and statements -- is going to lose states like Pennsylvania, which he vilified in his "bitter" comments. That is good news for candidates like Melissa Hart, Tom Manion, and Toni Gilhooley. Read below for comments on the Democratic candidates' "Obama Problem."

On my other blogs today I'll be talking about Gov. Kathleen Sibelius' ridiculous comment that people who call the lightweight Obama "inexperienced" or "too liberal" are using code words for racism. Kathleen, that dog won't hunt anymore.


Kathleen, Obama is not only inexperienced and wildly liberal, it is he who is the racist. As Larry Johnson says in the following graph, Obama is also a coward -- a man who kicks his surrogates under the bus when it's to his political advantage.

The North Vietnamese tortured John McCain for years but he resisted until he was physically broken and scarred for life. What did it take to make Barack crack? Some pointed criticism from Republicans. Barack was not hung by his arms and beaten by bamboo. Nonetheless, in a quintessential display of cowardice as a leader, he sold out Wesley Clark. Note to Clark–nice try General, but it is time to realize that Barack does not stand and take the fire. He cuts and runs. He is a coward. "


Note: More later Tuesday on why Jason Altmire is symbolic of the Democrats' problem this year. Jason is wrong on guns, wrong on gasoline prices, and wrong on choice of political companions (Obama, Pelosi, and Murtha). "And down goes Jason, down goes Jason," to paraphrase the radio call on the Ali-Frazier fight. He was rasie a gazillion dollars from special-interests but the voters will regard him with revulsion.

As you'll see at the beginning of this column, the goal here is not only to defeat Barack Obama, but also those who enabled him to steal the Democratic nomination from Hillary Clinton. High on the list of such people are Jason Altmire, Tim Holden, and Patrick Murphy. The candidates opposing these malicious individuals are Melissa Hart, Toni Gilhooley, and Tom Manion. They need your support.

Second Amendment: Hart Blasts Altmire, Pelosi

BULLETIN ON SUPREME COURT UPHOLDING SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS:

Sent following to Melissa Hart, Toni Gilhooley, Tom Manion, and Steve Sauerberg: [Note: if you're looking for the piece on the Democrats almost unanimous opposition to producing domestic energy, please scroll down to a couple of columsn. Sauerberg is opposing Obama crony Dick Durbin for an Illinois seat in the U.S. Senate.

Frankly, anyone who votes for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker or Harry Reid as Senate Majority Leader is not a supporter of Second Amendment rights. In the House, the Speaker has absolute power over what gets considered and what doesn't, and Pelosi's attitude against gun rights borders on the hydrophobic.

Supporters of Pelosi backers Altmire, Murphy, and Holden who are also for gun rights are kidding themselves. Their advocacy of the Second Amendment becomes nothing more than an empty campaign promise.The first act for both men in 2007 was to vote Pelosi in (unanimously) and their first act in 2009 would be to do the same.

Also, their favorite presidential candidate, Obama, has a terrible record on gun rights, and if Altmire, Murphy, and Holden support him for President, they are misleading their constituents. An Obama presidency would set gun right back 200 years.

John McCain supports Second Amendment rights -- while Obama and Pelosi do not.It's that simple. No gun owner in his or her right mind can vote for Altmire, Murphy, or Holden, let alone an anti-gun extremist like Senator Durbin. The NRA and the Gun Owners of America (GOA) should laugh such people out of office.

(In Durbin's and Obama's cases, they basically have said they would appoint or vote for leftist judges who would disregard the Second Amendment, just as Clinton appointees Breyer and Ginsburg did.)

HART LAUDS SUPREME COURT RULING IN

SUPPORT OF SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS

Cranberry Township, PA - Former Congresswoman Melissa Hart today released a statement praising the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Heller case. [Note from Steve: Please contribute to Melissa Hart today in order to preserve your second amendment rights.]

“The United States Supreme Court made a very good and important decision today with its ruling on the Heller case. Now, citizens of Washington, D.C. can enjoy the same Constitutional rights as residents of the 50 states. This is likely the most important Second Amendment case of our time. The ruling is likely to spark legislative initiatives all over the country in the coming weeks to restore Second Amendment rights of many whose cities have infringed on the right of an individual to bear arms,” said Hart.

The last time the Supreme Court heard a case on the Second Amendment was in 1939. (United States v. Miller)

“This case reminds those of us who are truly concerned about degradations of the U.S. Constitution and our individual liberties, that we must not allow ourselves to be fooled by those who claim to support Second Amendment rights, but act in ways that weaken them.”

“Jason Altmire may claim back home in Western PA that he supports our Second Amendment rights, but in reality he has ‘gone Washington’ and one of the first votes he ever cast in Washington, D.C. was to elect anti-gun Nancy Pelosi to Speaker of the House.
