THIS SUNDAY/MONDAY I'LL BE WRITING ABOUT TOM MANION V. "MODERATE" DEMOCRAT PATRICK MURPHY IN THE "BUCKS COUNTY" CONGRESSIONAL RACE. A "MODERATE DEMOCRAT" IS SOMETHING LIKE A CAT THAT BARKS. CONGRESSMAN MURPHY'S FIRST ACT IF HE'S RE-ELECTED WILL BE TO VOTE FOR SAN FRANCISCAN NANCY PELOSI FOR SPEAKER. 'NOUGH SAID.
Note: This has been quite a week: On my national blog, I've endorsed the idea of John McCain offering the vice-presidential spot on his ticket to . . . Sen. Hillary Clinton. Also, on my national blog, I have new column today that helps break the story about Teddy Kennedy's conspiring with the Soviet KGB in a mutal attempt to derail Ronald Reagan's re-election effort. On the blog you're now viewing (PennsylvaniaforJohnMcCain), I've discussed why the national Republican establishment has become a hindrance to new congressional candidates. On another blog (http://hillarysupportersformccain.blogspot.com/) today's piece is from a (conservative) female psychiatrist trying to divine why the national media absolutely hates Hillary Clinton (and, by extension, other female candidates for high offices). In the history of the Keystone State, there have been a grand total of TWO women elected to Congress. This year, there are three outstanding female, Republican candidates -- Toni Gilhooley, Melissa Hart, and Marina Kats -- running for Congress. In the coming weeks and months, I'll also be writing about candidates Tom Manion and Michael Livingston. Please support them all! And please let your friends and fellow onliners know that this (daily!) column exists. Thanks!
Add-on: I appreciate the positive message sent out today by Republican congressional campaigns honcho Tom Cole, a fine Oklahoma congressman. However, if the NRCC wants to play a very positive role in this year's campaigns, it absolutely must bring in people like Sharon Caliendo, my associate in OK. The key question for Republican candidates is: how can I win a campaign when my Democrat opponent has more money? Someone like Sharon knows the answer to that question. In all humility, frankly, I think I also know how. Candidates need to look at that amazing Christy Whitman campaign (against Sen. Bill Bradley) in 1990 and learn the lessons it teaches (note, go to Wikipedia.com). In Pennsylvania, candidates can look way back to the Santorum victory in the early 90s against Democrat Congressman Doug Walgren, basically a door-to-door effort. Candidates must come across as impressive -- and approachable -- human beings. They must convey genuine affection for voters -- all voters. If our Republican candidates can raise $500,000 (or even less) they can run a bang-up campaign. Trust me!
The following is correspondence I, Sharon Caliendo (an OK & TX consultant), Kathy Morrison (an expert in online political) had with various candidates, consultants, and one fundraiser (David All of Slatecard). Note to readers: please go to http://slatecard.com/ and contribute to as many candidates as you can afford.
I hope all Republican congressional candidates in Pennsylvania will move today, if you haven't already, to ally yourself with David All and Slatecard, an online site designed to raise money for Republican candidates. It won't raise you huge sums of money at this early point in its history, but Slatecard is one of the many things we need to promote now.I write regularly on my blog(s) about (relatively) low-cost, high-impact campaigns. Slatecard can help you to get "just enough" money to get your messages across.I will do everything I can to energize the online community to contribute to the various Pennsylvania campaigns.
I have been recommending a number of political consultants, such as Sharon Caliendo, an expert at grass-roots organizing and Kathy Morrison, a wed designer and blogger resources expert, who aren't currently charging for their assistance. There are also several others who can help. If you need Sharon's or Kathy's e-mail address, e-mail me at: TalkTop65@aol.com.
There's a lot of gloom and doom about the loss of the Mississippi seat in the special election. A huge amount of money (NRCC spent $1 million) spent there that might as well have been thrown down a rathole. Sad. (NRCC is the National Republican Congressional Committee.)
My Pennsylvania site (the one you’re on) is focused on campaigns for Melissa Hart (4th CD), Tom Manion (8th CD), Melissa Kats (8th CD), Mike Livingston (2d CD), and Toni Gilhooley (17th CD)
Stephen (from Sharon)--
That was a huge throw-away of money [in Mississippi] in addition to previous special elections. We had a bad candidate and for some reason the people in DC think money is the answer but it is not. Better to spend a lot less and not worry about a special election.
People may not like what I have to say but I don't think that bringing VP Cheney who I happen to respect a lot is a smart move. The last thing a Republican candidate needs that is running for a seat in Congress IMHO is to tie themselves to the WH, NRCC, NRSC, or the RNC.
Drove from OK to Gainesville, FL, this weekend and had requests for McCain bumperstrips every time I stopped which shocked me. These were not activists but people concerned about the direction of the Country. When I asked some of them about Republican leadership, they said almost to a person that new leadership is needed and that McCain will provide that. Two words they hated were compassionate conservatism.
One black truck driver said he wants a President and Congress with a backbone that will stand up and tell it like it is. He is voting for McCain because he believes he will do what is right and not pander. I think McCain is going to help our candidates more then any of the DC groups.
People I have talked with around the Country keep talking about how they hate the pandering to the far right that has been going on since 2004. After our State Convention, I will definitely second that.
I am President of the oldest Republican Women's Club in OK and we are sponsoring an old fashion ice cream social/grillfest right after the primary filing so candidates can speak on why they should get the nomination and money from our Club in the general. We hand out $5,000 - 6,000 in an election year which doesn't sound like much but with it comes a lot of volunteers. I tell candidates to speak to the women's clubs and get them on board because you will get a lot of help in your campaign.
Recently we had robocalls [computer-generated phone calls] into OK that backfired. People hate robocalls and it is better to get live people to call asking for their vote. Keep the narrative short and to the point and you will score points. A lot of people I talk with as I travel hate TV ads that are one right after the other and too many look alike.
If anyone wants an idea for a great TV ad, see if you can find Sen. Don Nickles' ads from his last campaign for Senate from OK -- it was about bringing Oklahoma Values to DC. In the background was pastureland with a split rail fence in front. Best ad I have ever seen. Totally down to earth as he was out in the Country. Having grown up in rural Ohio, I don't see much difference between that and OK. It resonated with voters during the exit polling. Cong Mary Fallin's was the same way -- down to earth so you felt like she was talking with you.
My two cents on what I observed going across the South.
Sharon [from Steve]
I know candidates and those associated with them receive lots of e-mails and advice, and I promise to shut up (almost impossible for me) after this, but the national Republicans are a negative rather than a positive in this critical election. When Tom Reynolds, congressman from a district going from the Buffalo suburbs (I lived there) to the Rochester suburbs (lived there too), requires $5 million-plus to win a narrow re-election, there is something fundamentally wrong.
People no longer send money to the NRCC because they know that it will be spent to resuscitate political versions of the walking dead. It will not be sent to some of the wonderful candidates on this list. In fact, the NRCC sucks up money that would otherwise go to such candidates. Right now, the NRCC seems to regard about 150 congressional seats (more than one-third of the total) as not worth contesting. That's pathetic. No wonder contributors are ignoring the Committee. It makes much more sense to donate directly to candidates.
I am optimistic about our Pennsylvania candidates because they are terrific human beings. They don't have enough money, but they have a tremendous desire to do what's necessary to win.
After this election, there will be many changes in the Washington, DC leadership. The NRCC, if it continues to exist, should offer technical and advisory support to all Republican candidates, not just to a bunch of the "Old Bulls" who dedicated to their own survival and not to rebuilding the Republican Party.
I have tremendous respect for Sharon Caliendo., and I agree with everything she said. There are many like her throughout the country, something that would come as news to a lot of people in the DC "leadership." There is a grassroots effort underway now that recognizes the real leadership in the Republican Party consists of the people on this list.
The way to win is to go out, grab "defeat" by the throat, and strangle it. Winning is largely an act of will.

Republican Disaster -- or Great Opportunity?
I was on BlogTalkRadio Thursday evening with Eric Dondero (host) and Murray Sabrin (Republican primary candidate for NJ U.S. Senate). The broadcast is avaiable (on podcast) at www.blogtalkradio.com/libertarian. I urge you to listen (only partly because I'm on it and you get to hear my Rochester, NY accent) but mainly because Eric and I launched something you haven't heard recently: a ferocious defense of the Iraq War (and John McCain's position on it). Would love to hear your thoughts at TalkTop65@aol.com. On the show I called attention to the web sites of Melissa Hart, Toni Gilhooley, Michael Livingston, Marina Kats, and Tom Manion. Tom is a former Marine colonel. Sadly, his son Travis was killed in action in Iraq. Say a prayer for Tom and his son.

Please take a few minutes to visit the web sites of these wonderful candidates -- and offer them whatever support you can provide. Thanks
Media, candidates, activists, and others: Please feel free to post, reprint, forward, or discuss this piece. Candidates: I hope you'll establish a link on your own web site and tell your visitors that I'll be writing regularly about your campaign. The url for this blog is: http://pennsylvaniaforjohnmccain.blogspot.com. Eventually, our combined efforts should result in tens of thousands of "hits" on your web site, which will generate various form of support, including contributions. "We must all hang together, or most assuredly, we will all hang separately." (B. Franklin) I receive no financial support or direction from any candidate. If you need to correspond via e-mail, you can reach me at: TalkTop65@aol.com.
Today, I’m writing broadly about the following piece from http://www.politico.com/:
"GOP Leaders Warn of Election Disasterpolitico.com — Shell-shocked House Republicans got warnings from leaders past and present Tuesday: Your party’s message isn’t good enough to prevent disaster in November, and neither is the NRCC’s [National Republican Congressional Committee's] money. The Republican brand has been so badly damaged that if Republicans try to run an anti-Obama or anti-Rev. Wright campaign, they are simply going to fail. More… (US Elections 2008)."
The article's message is either poppycock or balderdash. I haven't figured out which. A candidate's "brand" is not the Party. Rather, it is the candidate herself or himself. Also, if those supposed "leaders" had done a better job leading, well, things would be better.
If our “leaders” (former and present) are people like Don Young (political architect of the “Bridge to Nowhere”), Tom DeLay, Mark Foley, Newt-of-many-wives and Tom Reynolds (who had to spend $5.2 million to get reelected in a solidly Republican district), well we can live without leaders like them.
The real leaders of the Republican Party are people like Bonnie West of Washington, PA, Sharon Caliendo of Norman, Oklahoma, Adam Brickley of Colorado Springs, and Brad Marston of Boston, Massachusetts. They’re out there this year – as in the past – busting their butts to send great candidates to Washington, DC. You’ve never heard of them perhaps, but you’ve seen the political fruits of their labors.
Political operative Sharon Caliendo is one of the main reasons Dr. Tom Coburn is in the U.S. Senate – and not back practicing gynecology. Adam Brickley almost single-handedly engineering the rise of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to national prominence and vice-presidential consideration. Brad Marston helped resuscitate what appeared to be the stone-dead campaign of John McCain. Bonnie West has been a key factor in revitalizing the Republican Party in a critical area of western Pennsylvania.
I wouldn’t trade one of them for four Tom DeLays. There's much hand-wringing lately over the loss of Republican candidate Woody Jenkins in a supposedly "safe" election in Louisiana. As Karl Rove put it Tuesday night, "Look, Woody Jenkins [who's lost more elections than Britney Spears has misplaced underwear] is a fine man, but he's terrible candidate." I support only exceptional candidates.
As for Woody's loss, the best way to get candidates for congressional races is NOT to "round up all the usual suspects." Instead, get people who have great integrity and a real passion for the voters of their district. They usually win – later if not sooner.
Long-time readers will know that I regularly rage against the NRCC for not giving Diana Irey a dime. She was the Republican candidate who ran so ferociously and well against “The Prince of Pork,” John Murtha. It can be a thankless task running against someone like Murtha who has sold his soul to every lobbyist with a bag-full of cash.
Diana raised $856,000 on her own. She got contributions from all 50 states. Her total number of contributors was 7,000 – significantly more than Murtha’s total, although he had many more large donors. Many of those who donated to Diana’s campaign were giving money for the first time to a political candidate.
The Diana Lynn Ireys of the world are the future of the Republican Party. She is a rock of integrity, a devoted Christian who has “a love affair with humanity.” She’s teenie (5 foot, 100 pounds) but as an orator she outdoes Barack Obama.
At the same time Diana was getting zip from the national Republican establishment, Mark Foley – prior to the nasty e-mails scandal – had accumulated a campaign war chest of, oh, $2 million. I assume Mark was not one of the “leaders” cited by Politico.com.
How can good Republican candidates – in spite of Politco’s ominous message – win this year? A while back, Sharon Caliendo sent me her analysis of how Mary Fallin, a congresswoman from the Oklahoma City area (5th district) won.
Some people, even the brilliant Michael Barone, portray Mary’s district as a Republican “slam-dunk.” But is it really? In fact, the district is two-third white – and one-third other. In fact, it sounds suspiciously like one of those districts where Democrats run unopposed election cycle after election cycle.
Sharon said that Mary went door-to-door month after month. She wore out several pairs of shoes. She raised a good deal of money, mainly because she would not take “no” for an answer. She ended up winning by 60% to 37% in what was supposedly (and actually) a horrible year for Republicans.
I am working very hard to ensure that John McCain wins the 21 electoral votes of Pennsylvania, which probably will ensure that he wins the presidency.
I’m also doing everything in my power to ensure that Melissa Hart wins back her congressional seat in western Pennsylvania, that Toni Gilhooley wins her uphill battle in Harrisburg and parts east, and that Marina Kats defeats the indescribably awful Allyson Schwartz in Montgomery County and Northeast Philadelphia. I’m also supporting Michael Livingston in a very difficult race in Philadelphia.
These three women will come nowhere near outspending their opponents, but they will outwork them and outsmart them. Gee, what do we have to do to restore the Republican “brand?” We need to go out with superior candidates – like Melissa, Toni, Michael, and Marina – and advance the process of winning elections.
Sharon Caliendo added the following comment about the NRCC (which is not having a good day on this blog): "There was another seat that they wasted tons of money on before this one too. I want to go back to the days where we supported our Congressional candidates and not an organization like the NRCC that plays favorites. Campaigns were less expensive then too and the candidates elected were not beholden to the powers that be at NRCC."
Gee, why can't the NRCC raise any decent money? Perhaps because contributors have figured out the national Party is sending it mainly to the GOP's version of "The Ghosts of Christmas Past." The NRCC should restrict itself to technical and communications support for candidates.

Huckabee Backers: Support Hart, Gilhooley
I sent the following to Larry Perrault. He's an important political thinker/activist/blogger/social conservative in Houston, Texas. He was a significant and effective supporter of Gov. Mike Huckabee and now endorses John McCain. I'm trying to get him and other Huckabee advocates interested/involved in some of our fascinating races in Pennsylvania (McCain, Melissa Hart, Toni Gilhooley, Marina Kats, Mike Livingston, and others).
Larry, Kathy Morrison is absolutely one of the best people going with Internet politics -- an extremely helpful woman that I'm trying to put in touch with several of my "adopted" congressional candidates. People like Kathy and Sharon Caliendo do not recommend spending a gazillion dollars on TV. Instead, they advocate some low-cost ways of "building the circles" -- making small circles of support into large ones that start "smelling like victory."
Two of the candidates I'm backing (Hart and Gilhooley) are running against incumbent Democrats who masquerade at "moderate-conservative" Democrats. Thus, my candidates need to do the difficult task of "re-branding" their opponents as backers of people like Obama, Pelosi, and Murtha (which in fact they are).
The only things that truly work well in politics are simple things, and "outing" liberals who swear they're conservatives is not a simple task.
Remember (actually, nobody's old enough to) when Harry Truman ran against "the do-nothing Congress." Well, he didn't run for or against very much else, but as Gov. Dewey found in 1948, the "do nothing Congress" was a powerful image/slogan.
I'm delighted that Melissa Hart is running "against" Obama (and her opponent's flirtation with the Illinois Senator) and Nancy Pelosi, whom Jason Altmire backed for Speaker of the House.
Coincidentally (or not), Toni Gilhooley's opponent, Tim Holden, also voted for Ms. Pelosi, from San Francisco (a town that Pennsylvanians place somewhere between Sodom and Gomorrah). Altmire has not been able to make up his mind between Obama and Clinton.
If I were Toni, I would be telling everybody in Harrisburg and parts east that Tim Holden can't make up his mind between Obama and Clinton, both of whom are "totally unacceptable to the people of central Pennsylvania."
Both Altmire and Holden apparently have relatively high "favorables," but that will change if Melissa and Toni can portray them for what their votes truly indicate they are: Nancy Pelosi's "groupies.' Melissa and Toni need to keep the Democrats constantly on the defensive by blasting them for "the company that they keep."
Obama criticized Pennsylvanians for clinging to Christianity, guns, racism, and xenophobia. Does Congressman Altmire agree or disagree? I hope she asks him that face-to-face. I expect Mrs. Gilhooley will do the same with Holden.
John McCain should win Melissa's district by something in the range of 56-57% to 44% to 43%. (Bush won the district by 54-45). Thus, McCain will be an extremely important "shadow figure" in Melissa's campaign.
In 2006, the DNC, Altmire, and 527s tried to tar Melissa by linking her to Bush and Santorum, and they had some success. I assure you Altmire and friends are NOT going to associate her with McCain. I'm currently going around talking about the "McCain-Hart ticket.."
The old saying was, "As Maine goes, so goes the nation." I believe that as McCain goes in western Pennsylvania (and he should go very well), so goes the marvellous Ms. Hart.
John McCain should win Toni Gilhooley's district by perhaps 59% to 60% against 41% or 40%. Bush won in 2004 by 58% to 42% There are early signs that Obama could lay a huge egg in Pennsylvania.
Again, as John McCain goes, so goes Toni Gilhooley. The key is to get across to voters that a vote for Tim Holden is a vote for Barack Obama (the probable nominee). Toni need to drive home the point that it makes no sense to vote John McCain and then to vote for Tim Holden.
Larry (Perrault), you are one of the more articulate pro-life spokesmen in the country. Melissa Hart and Toni Gilhooley are staunchly pro-life and have the moral fortitude to advance that cause in DC.
Altmire claims to be pro-life, but he voted for federal financing of embryonic stem cell research. Holden also claims to be pro-life but he is supporting a Democrat leadership that's relentlessly "pro-death" -- and that won't even allow a vote on any proposal that might in any way advance the cause of life. Altmire and Holden can't continue to have it both ways.
Larry, I hope you and all other Huckabee backers will consider "adopting" these superb candidates. They need support, financial and otherwise, and the key to their gaining such support is that they eminently deserve it. God bless.

OBAMA: DEMOCRATS' LOOMING DISASTER
As you may already know, I've written a column critical of John McCain for insisting the NC GOP pull an ad critical of Obama. The NC Republicans were right, and McCain was wrong. Please visit the NC GOP web site, write them an e-mail of support and, if you can, kick a few bucks their way. (The Party chair's e-mail box was full -- imagine that -- but the others were open.) Here's the link: http://ncgop.org/leadership/ncgop.asp
This weekend's column will be up Friday night, and its title will be: "Obama: A Disaster for Democrats." In many states (PA, NM, NC) Republicans are running ads to support state ("down-ticket") Republican candidates that feature criticisms of Barack Obama. In perhaps 30 states, he is becoming radioactive. My friend, Melissa Hart, who's running for Congress in the 4th congressional district is launching almost daily attacks on her opponent, Jason Altmire, for his "fawning," uncritical behavior toward Obama.
Consider the following information disseminated by my friend Sharon Caliendo, a political superstar and consultant in Oklahoma and Texas:
Sooner Survey: Barack Obama Would Be A Disaster For State Democrats,Barack Obama as the Democratic nominee for president would be a disaster for Oklahoma Democrats and possibly drag down other Democrat candidates, the new edition of the Sooner Survey reports.
Survey Director Pat McFerron reports that with either Obama or Hillary Clinton as the party nominee, Republican John McCain should win the state easily. But while McCain now leads Clinton 2-to-1, he leads Obama 3-to-1 and Obama displays startling weakness in Democrat areas of the state.
While Oklahoma Republicans once salivated at the opportunity to again run against a Clinton, McFerron writes, "Barack Obama’s numbers in the state make him an even more appealing Democrat nominee to run against."
For Oklahoma Democrats on the fall ballot, McFerron sounds an ominous warning: "When looking at their individual favorability numbers, there is not much difference between Obama (32% favorable vs. 54% unfavorable) and Clinton (34% favorable vs. 57% unfavorable). However, when looking at ballot match-ups against McCain, there is a sizeable difference that could have dire consequences for down-ballot Democrats. Against Hillary Clinton, John McCain has a two-to-one advantage (60% McCain vs. 30% Clinton). Against Barack Obama, however, it approaches three-to-one (62% McCain vs. 21% Obama)."
Obama drew a favorable rating from 32 percent of those in the survey, with 54 percent expressing an unfavorable opinion. And 40 percent have a "strongly unfavorable" impression of him.
McFerron writes that in the Ada/Ardmore area, an area of significant Democrat strength, 81 percent of those surveyed picked McCain and only 5 percent picked Obama in a head-to-head matchup.
In Little Dixie, McCain has an astounding 5-to-1 lead over Obama.

Sharon Caliendo added the following:
"I think this is pretty much what you are going to see across the South including Texas and Florida. I work with a good friend out of Florida that said he believes the OK numbers will be similar for Florida which is outstanding news. I expect Sen McCain to have coattails in a lot of our states that were all or predominately red the last time. OK and UT had every county go for Pres Bush and as it stands now I expect those numbers to rise for Sen McCain as we draw in the American Indian vote for the Senator. He has spent years working for the Indians on the Senate Committee and all the ones I have talked with in OK support McCain."
"Getting a good feeling about this election in our part of the Country. Now to reach out to those states that were blue in the last election to bring some of them red so on election night we can celebrate instead of waiting until the next day and longer."

Sharon, Political Star, Oklahoma Blog
THE ONE-MILLION VOTE PROJECT
Up and running now are New Mexico for John McCain and Pennsylvania for John McCain (this site). Also, Sharon from Norman, OK ("Go Sooners!") has agreed to manage Oklahoma for John McCain, and it will be running hard soon. Sharon is a political version of The Energizer Bunny, and she's extremely skilled in organizational and GOTV (Get Out the Vote) activities. We "ordinary mortals" will never be quite at Sharon's, but many of the things she does are learnable and doable. In the first few weeks this site is alive, I'm going to post material from Sharon and others who are very skilled in making sure their candidates get elected -- and, in this case, that means John McCain.
The woman who heads the New Mexico site blogs usually at The Pink Flamingo. Her initial experience was with political guru Lee Atwater in South Carolina. She also worked on the campaigns of Senator Lindsay Graham. She set up on blogspot 49 of the state sites. I did a grand total of one, Pennsylvania. But I did find the great picture of the Amish kids!
We very much need volunteers to take over the other state sites. I believe we have one for Texas, but a state like that one (huge in geography and populaton) could probably use more than one blog manager.
In my exchanges with Sharon, she gives me a lot of information about her political background. Invariably, what she says is applicable to others -- although perhaps not quite at her level of commitment. In her most recent e-mail, she told me the following about the "Air Force life."
She says, "OK is in the bag for McCain for the general election. I can easily help out with Texas. We lived there for eight years before moving to OK when Kelly AFB ended up on the BRAC list to be shut. We were some of the first people from that area to transfer to Tinker AFB. If you cannot find a Texas person, I will see if Brad who comes from Houston will take it over (he helped me out on the Bush yahoo groups) if I promise to help him out. I know several states better then OK - Ohio where I grew up, CA where we used to live, TX where we used to live, and FL where I work with my good friend on elections -- he went to McCain a week before the FL primary and ended up escorted Sen McCain and his wife to events for the final week. In 2000 I knew much more about FL then OK including giving directions to people for Bush rallies. My brother lives in Orlando."
What if a state like Oklahoma is, as Sharon says, "in the bag" for McCain (as I agree it is)? In that case, activists from Oklahoma can contact family and friends in other more hotly contested states.
The two columns below discuss what the 50 state blogs for McCain are designed to do. Each blog will look alike, but the approaches will all be different. There will be no "orders from the top," because there will be no top.
In each case, however, they're designed to bring together activists to work TOGETHER toward the election of John McCain.
Soon, you'll see blogrolls with the 50 states for John McCain. Within a month, there will be on this site a blogroll for Pennsylvania. People who don't have blogs -- and that's the vast majorityof people online -- are very much invited to participate. They can receive e-mail alerts about political developments of interest in PA. Anyway, welcome aboard all.

JOIN STATE BLOGS FOR MCCAIN!
IF YOU'RE FROM PA AND SUPPORT JOHN MCCAIN, PLEASE LEAVE YOUR NAME, BLOG url (IF YOU HAVE ONE), AND YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS. IT WON'T GO ANYWHERE TO ANYONE WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION. THE GOAL IS TO HAVE A BIG GROUP THAT WILL WORK TOGETHER TO ELECT JOHN MCCAIN. My e-mail address is: TalkTop65@aol.com.
Information about the state blogs for McCain follows.
There will be 20 state blogs for John McCain. New Mexico for John McCain and Pennsylvania for John McCain (this one) are up now, and all 50 should be Sunday evening. It's necessary to have 50 people to run the state blogs -- and in some cases more than one person will do so. We've got PA, OK, and NM now, and we hope to have all 50-plus volunteers by the end of February (one of whom can be YOU. If you live overseas, we can also use your help.
The following is the post I made on my primary blog: http://camp2008victorya.blogspot.com. I write regularly (an average of more than once-a-day) on that blog and will from time to time repost on this site. Cindy Reidhead of The Pink Flamingo is assisting in this effort, as is Sharon Caliendo of Rudy Supporters for McCain (a group that switched over to McCain on the same day Rudy Giuliani endorsed him). http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RudySupportersforMcCain/
The state blogs will be independent sites. They are not in competition with any other sites for McCain. In fact, we all encourage every blog to join the main campaign site for volunteers, which is: http://mccainvictory08.com. The state sites will be "state-specific." The main purpose will be grassroots efforts to generate volunteers, handle logistics (at the county and state levels), and to raise funds.
If you can send $200, that's great. If you can send $25, that's great also. You can contribute by going here -- and use either a bank card or credit card. If you want to send a check by mail, you can do so at:
The point is this: If activists who back McCain wait for "instructions from headquarters, they -- and that means "us" -- will wait in vain. Activists act -- on their own, in behalf of their candidate. They disseminate information and seek out support. That's what we're asking you to do. McCain will need 3,000,000 active volunteers to win this election. There is no way that number of individuals can be guided from above. We need vast numbers of people to function as leaders.
Obama, the presumptive nominee of the Democrats, generates funds at a truly amazing rate, and a lot of the money comes from the farthest-Left segment of American society, including multi-billionaire GOP-hater George Soros. If you have any extra cash this week, please donate it at John McCain's home site. You can do through through a credit or bank card.
Right now, we need volunteers from every state. If you have the time (not that much required) and the inclination (a lot required), please volunteer to host your state blog. It will already have been set up -- each in the same general format. If you have questions, please send them to me at: TalkTop65@aol.com or to Cindy at: SJReidhead@mac.com You can also ask by leaving comments at my main site: http://camp2008victorya.blogspot.com.
John McCain needs your help. God bless you for providing it.
The following is a repost of my column on http://camp2008victorya.blogspot.com.
This is an INDEPENDENT effort focused on bringing together you and other bloggers in your state to work together to ensure the election of John McCain. I hope you and others like you throughout the country will join, either as managers of each state blog or as participants to be listed on the blogroll.
The “AM” Blogroll (a.m. for McCain's "morning in America") on the state blogs is designed to be a networking tool for the supporters of John McCain It is not to supplant any other group. Indeed, the AM Blogroll will also concentrate on grass-roots logistics, fund-raising, and eventually will become a ‘get out the vote’ tool for local communities. It's early, but there are now two model blogs up (and will be more soon). Please visit them at: (1) http://newmexicoforjohnmccain.blogspot.com/ -- and(2) http://americanforjohnmccain.blogspot.com/.
http://pennsylvaniaforjohnmccain.blogspot.com/ is up now and has information that you will find useful.
The blogs will enable people in each state to communicate with each other. The blog manager's role will be to make it easier for people to share ideas and to communicate what's going on in each state. The blogs can help ensure that McCain is competitive in every state, one of his stated goals.
Of course, no one but Senator McCain and his paid staff (a very small group compared to Obama's huge staff) can speak FOR the Senator. However, it is our first amendment right to speak ABOUT the Senator and his opponent. We very much need volunteers to manage state blogs.
Such people should be committed to the election of John McCain and willing to devote perhaps one hour per day to their particular state blog. (As the election nears, particularly in September and October of this year, the blogs will take on a tremendous importance in getting out the vote for Senator McCain.)
If you might not have the individual time to spend on the blog, please consider being a co-manager. There's reason why 2-3-4 people can't be co-managers. Such people won't be receiving instruction from anyone else, since each blog will be an individual enterprise.
That said, the state blogs should look alike (see the examples) and be as user-friendly as possible. That's why Blogger (blogspot.com) will be used. It's simple to set up and attract participants. The goal would be for each state blog to have representatives from all (or nearly all) counties. Bloggers then can share information and suggestions in order to make certain each state is as well-organized as possible for the election. Also, we can learn from each other about successful tactics at winning supporters and getting out the vote.
The state blogs should play a critical role. However, you're encouraged to join other organizations devoted to Senator McCain. You can find out how to do so by going to: http://mccainvictory2008.com/. MV08 will always be an important element in the McCain effort.
If you'd like more information, please direct your questions either to me (TalkTop65@aol.com) or to SJReidhead@mac.com. You can also leave comments at our blogs.Every state is going to be critical, but some may be more critical than others. They include: New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, Ohio, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Virginia, and Florida. Your efforts can be crucial in such battleground states -- and others. If John McCain wins most of those states (esp. Florida, Pennsylvania, and Ohio), he will be the next President of the U.S. With enough effort, each state is winnable.
PLEASE VOLUNTEER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. At the Pennsylvania for McCain site (http://pennsylvaniaforjohnmccain/ (up and running on Saturday), I'll be sharing information provided by political superstar Sharon Caliendo of Oklahoma. She's an expert on individuals leveraging their efforts to elect candidates. Also, don't forget to visit the models from New Mexico and America generally.Your suggestions are always welcome.
NOTE: THIS BLOG RECEIVES MANY VISITORS FROM OUTSIDE THE U.S. -- BRAZIL, CANADA, MEXICO, FRANCE, AUSTRALIA, AND ELSEWHERE. IF YOU'RE NOT A U.S. CITIZEN, YOU CAN'T CONTRIBUTE FINANCIALLY TO THE MCCAIN CAMPAIGN. HOWEVER, YOU CAN HELP GREATLY BY COMMUNICATING YOUR SUPPORT FOR MCCAIN TO FRIENDS AND RELATIVES IN THE U.S. PLEASE START DOING SO TODAY! IF YOU ARE A U.S. CITIZEN OVERSEAS, THIS BLOG (AND OTHERS) WILL PROVIDE INFORMATION ON HOW YOU CAN GET AN ABSENTEE BALLOT TO VOTE IN THE PRIMARY AND GENERAL ELECTION.
