Sarah Palin: An Alaskan View

Piper Palin, America's new 7-year-old Sweetheart flies through the air with the greatest of ease at a Native Alaskan Village. She told her mom and dad that they could go home and she'd stay at the village. I can't imagine why . . .

The following letter is a from an Alaskan bush pilot and hunting guide, Butch King. His web link is at the bottom of this page. He and his wife, Kathy, know Gov. Sarah Palin well. This is not material you're going to be reading elsewhere as the MSM goes busily about trying to "dig up dirt" on this outstanding American woman.

Subject: Who is Sarah?

Here is the straight scoop from an in-person observer. What would happen if she got the 3am call that the President was dead? Past experience indicates she'd clean house in Washington. Would that be a bad thing?

We are having a great week on Silvers here at Wildman Lodge, You know, I don't often get very political, but recently many of our friends are asking us "Who is Sarah Palin?"

Of course, as Alaskans, Kathy [his wife] and I are extremely proud of her. We just want to let you know that Sarah “Barracuda" Palin is a straight shooting, hard charging, get it done gal. She knows when to listen, how to analyze the facts and how to make a decision, then implement the plan. She doesn't do a poll before jumping in with both feet like too many of the Washington types.

She has little legislative experience because she has always held the EXECUTIVE position; in private life, as mayor of Anchorage’s largest bedroom community or more recently as Governor of our State. She is a smart, attractive home-grown Alaska girl with excellent moral and family values. She can see what needs to be done and does not hesitate to get it done.

One of our State's major problems is that its Capital is in Juneau, 500 miles from the nearest road and 800 air miles from the population base which are Anchorage, Wasilla and Fairbanks. Our legislature and most of the State government is in Juneau and they ALL behave like a bunch of freshmen in a college town. It has been this way since Statehood in 1959.

When Sarah moved to Juneau, so did accountability and responsibility. When the oil revenue started flowing and a barrel of North Slope Crude hit $23.00, these people began spending money like drunken sailors. You can only imagine what was happening when oil hit $100.00 a barrel, about the time Sarah took command.

My wife Kathy has first-hand experience with this fiasco, as her father and also her ex-husband were Alaska Legislators who served in Juneau as Senators, Senate President, or members of the State House for a combined period spanning nearly three decades.

About the time Sarah took the HELM as Governor of Alaska, about half of the State legislature was in the pocket of big oil companies or contractors doing big projects for Native Corporations around Alaska, all funded by State oil revenue. Alaska government was nothing but a good old boys club riding the perpetual wave of prosperity. This filtered down from the legislature, through the Department of Natural Resources, Department of Labor and even spilled in to the Public Safety who are supposed to "preserve and protect".

When Sarah walked into the Governor's Mansion, she promptly dismissed the State Trooper detachment assigned to Governor and had her and her husband's gun case brought in from Wasilla. Then, she got rid of the former Governor's STATE Jet and told legislators that there were no more free rides, they would have to fly Alaska Airlines, just like her and her family if they wanted to travel.

Next came the nut cutting (the "Barracuda" part) the heads that rolled were too numerous to name, but when Sarah finished cleaning house, a number of our legislators ended up in jail on corruption charges, or tendered their resignations along with numerous department heads and those who have been riding the gravy train for way too long, AND THEN SHE HAD LUNCH. By the end of the day, Sarah Palin had saved the people of Alaska millions and has not yet slowed down.

She has truly brought CHANGE to Juneau . I personally know several persons in the private sector in Alaska that hold her in high esteem. She surrounds herself with smart people, many from my hometown of Anchorage , she listens to them but makes her own decisions. Sarah
Palin is a no B.S. politician. It is refreshing that there is such thing anymore.

You want to talk about CHANGE? You should see a before and after picture of the State government in Alaska . That's CHANGE! Sarah will bring a number of things to the election. I am sure she will appeal to many voters who otherwise could have gone the other direction
on election day. The conservative bloc will not be for Barack. We have their vote.

We need what Sarah will bring, first to the election and second, what she will bring to Washington D.C. McCain has been advised well, Let's just hope the American people can get the straight scoop on her in the weeks ahead.

This is just the opinion of one Alaska Bush Pilot and Guide, who pays attention to national politics, watches the news and is deathly afraid of the direction our nation isheaded. I guarantee that if Sarah gets a chance to dig her spurs into the flanks of the liberal Washington types, they will know that she is in the saddle.

Sarah Palin: Gamechanger in PA

If you'd like to hear me talking about America's new heroine, Sarah Palin, on Pittsburgh's KDKA-TV Thursday evening, click on the following link: http://kdka.com/video/?id=45870@kdka.dayport.com Sarah Palin comforts a wounded American soldier . . . Her own son will be deploying to Iraq on or around Sept. 11

You might find the following piece interesting: Sarah Palin, Cristi Adkins: Heroines

I sent this following piece to many congressional candidates in Pennsylvania about the remarkable popularity for Gov. Sarah Heath Palin of Alaska.

We must send people to Congress who agree with John McCain and Sarah Palin about the need to reform Congress ans secure our energy future. I want -- and pray -- that Sarah Palin will come to the PA districts of everyone above and campaign for people who agree with her and share her values. "I share Sarah Palin's value, and I revere the example she sets."

Craig Williams (7th District, Bucks County) knows Sarah and has strongly endorsed her choice as V-P. I hope everyone else does exactly the same thing.

Please, everyone, help me to get Sarah interviews (plural) with KDKA's Jon Delano, a media friend who does the absolute best job he can at being fair and balanced. He even let me disagree with him last night! :-) I told him if I couldn't get Sarah, maybe I could get Piper Palin (7-year-old), who became an overnight superstar.

Pennsylvania: Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin

Senator Hillary Clinton could play an important indirect role in Pennsylvania races this year. Many of her supporters, and she has more than a million of them in the Keystone State, are angry at Pennsylvania congressmen who basically stabbed Senator Clinton in the back. Gov. Sarah Palin may well be John McCain's running mate, and her presence in Pennsylvania would be extremely helpful to candidates like Melissa Hart, Toni Gilhooley, Tom Manion, and Marina Kats. I'll explain more about that later today.

On my national blog about 6 p.m. Wednesday, I'll have a column up about two women who could be competing for the presidency in 2012: Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York and Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska, whose youngest daughter, Piper, age 7, is pictured jumping on a huge sealskin in a Native Alaskan area. Piper has to be one of the most charming children in America, and sometimes the TV stations want to interview her before they talk to her very popular mother. Sarah Palin is reportedly on McCain's short list for V-P choices. She has five children, including a newborn boy, Trig. She's known as "America's Most Popular Governor."

Her campaigning in Pennsylvania would be a godsend -- an a money-raiser -- for GOP candidates. Many people -- I'm one -- are imploring her to visit here soon. See below on Sarah.

THE CASE FOR SARAH ON THE GOP TICKET -- And in Pennsylvania!

Sarah Palin may very well be John McCain's choice for V-P on the Republican ticket. Barack Obama apparently doesn't want Hillary to be his V-P choice, but for purely political reasons he may choose her anyway.

Why do Obama-types fear the presence of Sarah Palin on the Republican ticket? In part, it's her legendary toughness (they don't call her "Sarah Barracuda" for no reason). But her main strength is her strong appeal to critical groups of voters. Consider:

Married women: Sarah's marriage to Todd Palin gives every evidence of being a model relationship. Sarah and Todd were childhood sweethearts, and they eloped shortly after she graduated from high school.

Young people: Sarah is only 44, and she exudes youthfulness and energy. She has children ranging in age from 18 (son Track) to a few weeks (son Trig).

Military families: Sarah and Todd are a military family. Their son Track enlisted in the U.S. Army Infantry on September 11, 2007. It's extremely likely he will see combat duty in either Afghanistan or Iraq, or both.

Families with children: The Palins have five children, three of them teenagers (Track, Willow, Bristol), as well as daughter Piper, age 7, and baby Trig (a Norwegian name).

Reagan Democrats: Palin has the highest approval ratings of any major elected official in the U.S. -- in the 90% range. That means she's gained approval from the vast majority of Democrats. Like Ronald Reagan, she's a master communicator.

Women professionals (journalists, teachers, nurses, doctors, lawyers, and businesswomen): Sarah is the consummate female professional, having served as Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, and as governor of the state. Her college degree is in journalism. Her parents both served as public school teachers.

Working families: Sarah's husband, Todd, has labored his entire adult life as a commercial fisherman and an oil field production worker. The couple's links to working families go far beyond the usual political rhetoric.

Gun owners: Like many Alaskans, Sarah is an avid hunter and a life-member of the National Rifle Association.

Pro-Life social conservatives: When Sarah found out that her unborn son, Trig, had Down Syndrome, she and her husband chose to have the child. Her point was that God has a purpose for every human being. When Trig was born, the Palins' press release began with these words, "God has blessed us . . . ." The fascinating point was that they meant every word of it.

Evangelical Christians: Sarah is an evangelical Christian. However, she doesn't wear her religious faith on her sleeve. She is not anti-gay and does not scapegoat people who disagree with her.

People concerned about energy and the environment: As governor of Alaska, Sarah is among the best-informed elected officials on both issues. She's head of the energy committee at the Republican Governors Association and is a strong advocate of level-headed conservation of natural resources.

Overall, there's no other Republican that brings more to the table than Sarah Palin. She has exceptionally wide appeal. She would help John McCain with many groups with which he's currently weak (including young people and women professionals).

Of supreme importance: Sarah could be particularly helpful in battleground states with large numbers of working class voters, including Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, and Michigan.
