Dems: 10 Buck Gas, Economic Depression

Let's see, wasn't Jimmy Carter's solution to the energy crisis of the 70s for us all to wear thick sweaters and two pairs of socks?

Gasoline at ten bucks a gallon? Just wait. Obama and Pelosi think it would be a great idea. If you can, please put this column up on your web site or blog.

Barack Obama is now running commercials in PA on his "energy plan," which is to do nothing, let gas prices rise to $10 a gallon, and generate an economic catastrophe. I'm not making this up.

The Dems -- your opponents and McCain's -- have totally sold out to the worst forms of environmental extremists. They've accepted a form of environmentalism that excludes human beings. They are as close as it gets to being downright evil.

That is Obama's plan, and it is the absurd plan of every Democrat running for Congress in Pennsylvania. They have lost their blankety-blank minds. They should ALL lose, and I believe in fact they will -- if you get the energy message across. On one of my "HillarySupporters" sites, a woman said she wouldn't vote for John McCain because he supports drilling in the OCS. The following is my reply to her.

I'll be writing on all these issues on my "national" blogs. On coastal drilling, the position of Barack Obama and, sadly, most Democrats is that we should rely on Hugo Chavez and the Sheiks of Araby for our energy security. That will not fly -- even with the sheiks of Araby. What Obama (and, alas, many other Democrats) are advocating is that we do nothing (and I'm not kidding) until gasoline goes up to, say, $10 a gallon. Then, we naughty Americans with our SUVs (note: I don't own a car) will be forced to practice "conservation."

Of course, under a President Obama, our economy would be wrecked and food prices will have doubled and there will be chaos throughout the land. Am I exaggerating? I don't think so.

John McCain clearly agrees with my dire prediction, and that's why he supports producing and refining our own oil. He also believes in nuclear energy, which basically produces no greenhouse gases. In PA yesterday, he advocated advanced technology that will result in "clean coal," a development that's necessary to protect tens of thousands of mining jobs in Appalachia. Your amiable local Democratic congressman opposes all of these steps. McCain is right -- you are right -- and the "Obama-kins" are dead wrong.

Obama's do-nothing plan would lead to an utter catastrophe. All those "good-paying jobs" Democratic candidates like to talk about in Ohio, Michigan, and PA would disappear, and we would exoerience another Great Depression. Some solution! I'd love to debate before 75,000 people at Obama's coming Invesco Field (Denver) coronation, but he wants nothing to do with people like me who have his number. .

Steve adds: Promises, promises, I know. I will be writing soon about the campaigns of Marina Kats and Craig Williams, both of whom recognize the urgent need for American to produce and refine as much of our own oil as possible. In my own district (Melissa Hart's) and in Tom Manion's and Craig William's districts, I'm asking candidates to wake up any American voters that may be asleep. What the Democrats are in fact advocating can destroy our country. I don't believe the Dems' ludicrous "talking points" cover that reality.

Please -- if can give even $10 to each of the GOP candidates highlighed, please do so. Frankly, if they get elected, you'll save a lot more than $10 on gasoline alone. Get involved before you get run over by the Dems' mindless "energy policy."

TOMORROW'S COLUMN: WHAT SHOULD GOP CANDIDATES SAY ABOUT IRAQ?
For early readers, you can get a fewl for tomorrow's column "google" the following: "Obama" + "Reinvade." You will get 1.5 million links! it refers to Obama's contingency plan to reinvade Iraq! Yep, you got that right. Commander-in-Chief Barack, Michelle, and Jesse Jackson will lead the re-invasion and the rest of us will have the option of following at a safe distance.

Obama, Dems Destroying U.S. Economy

If you're into YouTube, here's a link to an extremely important video by Carly Fiorina, former CEO of H-P and a strong possibility for V-P on McCain's ticket.

The video is about why she supports John McCain and her praise of Hillary Clinton. Very, very good message http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8qq3hrw5fk

The video could serve as a model for all Republican candidates, especially those working hard to get backing from Hillary Supporters. On another blog, I write today about "My Life Among Clintonistas," talking about who those Hillary Supporters are and what they want from candidates. I work closely with Democrats and Independents in the effort called NoBamaMission. I'm one of 15 national leaders.

________________________
There's a diehard Democrat named Mike Pasternak who regularly "comments" on my blogs, always using stale Democrat talking points. My western PA political ally (Stacy), who blogs at (http://smartgilrpolitics.blogspot.com/.) answers Mike, who is a "yeller dog Democrat," one who would vote for a yellow dog before he'd vote Republican.

Mike is a classic PA Democrat, dumb as a doorknob. [The following was sent to congressional candidates and staff members in PA, IL, CA, and elsewhere.]

The information Stacy provides [scroll down] will be useful as you draw-and-quarter your opponents on the energy question. Her reply focuses on Jason Altmire, a human slug, but it applies to Democrats generally on energy.

I continue to work everyday on "NoBama" efforts, and I believe they will pay dividends for our congressional and senatorial candidates. Clinton Democrats (many of them are really "Reagan Democrats") are asking me which Democratic Superdelegates (e.g., Altmire and Murphy) stabbed Hillary in the back, and I'm providing the information.

If you or your staffs want to look for useful information on this subject, you can find it at: http://dncreform.com. It shows which congressional reps and Senators (Kerry, Kennedy, Rockefeller, Bob Casey, others) favored Obama and how much money they got from the Obama Campaign. One way to stay off that kind of "hit" list is to do what Cong. Tim Holden did and NEVER declare.

The list consists mainly of congressmen whose districts (Altmire, Murphy) went heavily for Clinton but whose endorsements Obama. I hope Melissa Hart says, "Jason Altmire stabbed Mrs. Clinton in the back," or, "Jason kicked Sen. Clinton under the bus for his own political advantage." No Hillary Supporter in his or her right mind would vote for Altmire (or Murphy, or Holden, or Sen. Dick Durbin, or Pelosi).

Of course, someone like Tom Manion can use the same charges against Patrick Murphy, who strongly supports Obama even though his district went massively for Hillary Clinton. There is growing understanding among Hillary Supporters that people like Murphy and Altmire have real contempt for most Democrats.

In districts where a delegate/representative endorsed Mrs. Clinton, the congressmen are still vulnerable because they're generally allies of individuals (Pelosi and others) who are perceived as having shafted Sen. Clinton.

Overall, the Democrats remain totally vulnerable on gas prices. Obama's solution (and they will all follow his lead) is to do nothing and let gas prices double, so as to ensure "conservation." Of course, that would wreck the economy and destroy 10 million jobs, so it's not really a good "solution."

The following are Stacy’s comments eviscerating Democrats’ talking points on energy:

Stacy says to Mike [the Democrat], "You are being misleading saying that Melissa Hart and Congress did nothing [in the past on energy]. I continue to do research on this subject and I found out some interesting things.

"12/1/2001-House was controlled by Reps., but Senate was controlled by Dems. House passed Energy plan that included drilling in ANWR as well as funding additional nuclear power. Senate Dems would not let the bill pass.

"2002: Senate again continued to kill a bill that would have drilled in ANWR, nuclear power, and tax incentives for alternative fuel.2003-Rep.controlled both Houses.

The bill AGAIN passed the House, but the Dems led by Senator Schumer killed the bill in a filibuster.I have plenty more examples and could continue to list them, but as far as I can tell Melissa Hart did her job in Congress.

"What has Jason Altmire done in the two years he has been in Congress with both houses being held by Dems?"

Future columns this week will deal with R.
Craig Williams against D. Joe Sestak, and R. Marina Kats v. D. Allyson Schwartz. The column below deals with the crucial issue of gas prices and how to present it to PA voters.

Tim Holden: PA's Political Mugwump

Most Americans wouldn't know Tim Holden if they tripped over him. He's the congressman from Pennsylvania's 17th district (Dauphin County-Harrisburg and parts of Schuykill, Lebanon, and Perry Counties).

In fact, you might actually trip over him someday because, when confronted with a tough decision, Tim has a habit of assuming the fetal position. That one reason he has a serious challenger: Toni Gihooley, a long-time state cop and victim's advocate.

Tim is a classical political mugwump, a fence-sitter. In Abraham Lincoln's time, they defined a mugwump as someone with his mug on one side of a fence -- and his "wump" on the other. He's seemingly convinced himself that if his voting record is all over the map people in his moderate-leaning district will assume he's a . . . moderate Democrat. In short, a mugwump.

In previous coolumns I've talked about Pennsylvania Superdelegates -- particulary 4th district representative Jason Altmire and 8th district representative Patrick Murphy -- whose districts went solidly for Hillary Clinton. How did they do on reflecting the popular will? Not well. They both supported Barack Obama. (As you'll see in the Republican Herald story below, Altmire has left an air of mystery about where he stands on the candidates.)

What about the fact that the state of Pennsylvania went frr Mrs. Clinton by more than 200,000 votes? That didn't seem to impress Murphy or Altmire, and it didn't influence the aforementioned Tim Holden.

But what candidate did Holden, undeclared month after month, finally declare for? Hey, this is Tim Holden remember, and apparently he's still not made up his mind. Ask him again in a year or so.

Consider the following story that appeared in the June 5 edition of RepublicanHerald.com:

"Sen. Barack Obama clinched the Democratic nomination Tuesday night, letting uncommitted superdelegates off the hook.

"U.S. Rep. Tim Holden — one of the uncommitted — called the process “flawed, foolish” and “undemocratic” on Wednesday.

“It looks like a decision has been made without the superdelegates having to step in, and that’s what I think should have happened,” Holden, D-17, said in a phone interview Wednesday.

Holden is one of about 140 superdelegates who did not endorse Obama or Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton during primary season, according to an Associated Press tally.

In Pennsylvania, Holden is one of two congressmen who endorsed neither Clinton nor Obama. The other congressman, Rep. Jason Altmire, a freshman from outside Pittsburgh, says he won’t formally endorse a presidential candidate but he supports Obama.

"On Wednesday, Holden blasted the involvement of superdelegates — party officials, governors and members of Congress free to support whichever candidate they choose. There are about 800.

“My feeling about this process is it’s flawed, foolish,” Holden said. “We look foolish. For superdelegates to impose their will on voters is undemocratic and I will tell Howard Dean that the next time I see him.”

"Dean, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, has been calling for superdelegates to pick a candidate for several months.

"Holden said his support of either candidate — in his role as a superdelegate — is “moot” now."

I'm sure you've heard of people voting "yea" or "nay" -- or even "present." But I doubt you've ever heard of anyone voting "moot."

How did Sen. Clinton do in Congressman Holden's district? She did lose urban Dauphin County (Harrisburg), with a big Black population. But she won Schuykill [SKOOK-uhl] County by 15,355 to 5,517. She carried Lebanon County by 7,316 to 5,772. And she won Perry County by 2,613 to 1,623.

So why didn't Tim Holden reflect the will of the people -- and come out for Senator Clinton? Or, if he didn't like Hillary, why not back Barack? Or anybody of his choosing?

I fear you already know the answer. Holden knows that when he takes a strong stand -- on any issue -- he might end up offending someone. Better to remain undeclared -- or vote "moot" -- unto eternity.

I believe Hillary Clinton supporters are going to identify not so much the "process" as what's wrong with the system. I believe they going to declare that The Problem lies with people like Tim Holden Howard Dean, Jason Altmire, and Patrick Murphy.

They'll also identify the Jason Altmires of our political system -- a man who "supports" Obama but won't declare that he does so -- as deeply flawed human beings. (Jason Altmire is opposed by Melissa Hart, who -- unlike Holden and Altmire -- has the capacity to make up her mind.)

Pennsylvanians do have a choice. They can re-elect Tim Holden to a 9th term, or they can elect Jason Altmire to a 2d term. The alternative is to vote for two people -- Toni Gilhooley and Melissa Hart -- who've never been mistaken for mumwumps.

In short, we can have the "Three Stooges" -- Murphy, Holden, and Altmire -- for another two years, or we can end a comedy show that's gone on much too long to be funny anymore.

Note: Patrick Murphy's 8th district GOP opponent is Tom Manion at: http://votemanion.com/. If the challengers I've cited are to end Pennsylvania's congressional clown show, they very much need your help. Visit their web sites today -- and often. Thanks.

Getting Votes From Hillary Backers

What's the best way Hillary Supporters can exact payback? By actively opposing people like SuperDelegates Patrick Murphy and Jason Altmire who basically stabbed Mrs. Clinton in the back. A simple, clear message. For political reasons, Mrs. Clinton may even endorse such turncoats, but her supporters know she will be holding her nose with both hands. "And down goes Murphy . . . and down goes Altmire . . ." What a pleasant thought.

Before I go to bed (early Thurs. a.m.), let me send a personal/political message to Tom Manion and Melissa Hart. I think both of you should go after Hillary Supporters with a vengeance. (And in a slightly different way, the same is true of Toni Gilhooley and Marina Kats -- Marina get that web site up soon!)

[In the 2008 election, women's votes are going to be critical to winning. On my national blog(s), I have a column by Jean Avery, an expert on female voting tendencies. Jean says, Jean Avery's comments follow: "Last week, Howard Dean and friends gave delegates to someone who wasn't even on the ballot and took half the delegates from a candidate who was. And, by the way, she was also the first woman with a serious shot at the Presidency. Suddenly millions of American women who hung their hopes on Hillary are the Desirable Voting Bloc. (Sure, Hillary had male supporters, but because many women's motives differed, their response to her rejection may differ too.)"]

Pennsylvania candidates (male or female): Tell the Democratic women in your districts -- and they voted overwhelmingly for Hillary -- that the Democrats' "Boy's Club" -- and call it that -- sold Sen. Clinton down the river. Cite Howard Dean, Bob Casey (much hated among Hillaryites), Patrick Murphy, and Jason Altmire. Heck, throw in hapless Tim Holden for good measure. (In due time, I'll figure out what to do with Allyson Schwartz.)

Manion can say how Murphy defied the wishes of his constituents, which happens to be true. Melissa Hart can note that Jason Altmire cast adoring glances at Obama and dithered until he could safely endorse Obama, which also happens to be true.

Make this a campaign issue. Ask to speak to Democratic women, individually or in groups. Don't let anybody forget what the "Boy's Club" did to Hillary. Talk about how Howard Dean gutted the Hillary votes in Florida and Michigan. Talk about how Pennsylvania Democrats either supported the "conspiracy" (Murphy, Casey) or colluded in it (Altmire).

Say -- many times and at all decibel levels -- that the Boy's Club doesn't deserve to remain in office. Make it your mantra. Recognize that 90% of winning is acting like a winner. When you reach 40%-plus in the polls, start declaring victory. Voters love bandwagons.

Do these things, and you will get one-third of the votes that went to Hillary Clinton. Also, one-sixth of the Hillary voters will stay home (or vote for Ralph Nader? or George Washington?).

In short, rub the incumbents' noses in the degradation and defeat of Hillary Clinton. If they get just half the Hillary voters to show up on November 4, they are not going to like what they see on Election Eve.

I wrote Wednesday (scroll down) about Hillary Supporters taking out revenge on Democrat "SuperDelegates" that supported Obama -- even though their districts or states voted heavily for Hillary Clinton. When the angry Hillary backers get through with them those delegates will not feel very super.

About 10:30 a.m. Friday (right here), I'll attempt an answer to an overwhelming question: How exactly do Republican candidates for federal office -- including John McCain -- go about getting the votes -- and financial support -- of the Hillary backers?

I can imagine GOP congressional candidates, some of them very dear to me, saying, "Hey, I don't agree with Hillary on much, so how can I can her supporters to back me?"

First, understand that Hillary Supporters aren't from another planet. As our fellow Americans, they share a lot more with us than we -- or they -- might imagine. For instance, the vast majority of Hillary backers do support our American soldiers. In fact, Hillary's voters are a lot more likely to KNOW -- or to have in their family -- one or more American soldiers.

The same is not true of Obama-philes. To them, soldiers are somebody they see on TV. Twenty percent of Democrats say they hope the U.S. loses the war in Iraq. Very few of them -- almost none, I'd guess -- voted for Hillary Clinton in the Dem Primaries.

Even though I have one wife and five daughters and various grand-daughters, I don't claim to be an expert on women. Even Dr. Freud (not a big favorite with feminists) felt called upon once to ask, "But what does a woman want?"

In coming up with an answer to that, I'm going to rely on my long-distance friend, Jean Avery, from Seattle, Washington. She's as good as it gets on understanding the hopes, fears, and thoughts of female voters. Jean blogs at
http://moms4mccain.blogspot.com/.

She's the one who brought to my attention the avalanche of angry generated by Mrs. Clinton's loss of the nomination. I wrote about that on Tuesday on my
Hillary Supporters for McCain site. I also provided the very long list of web sites for Hillary-ites who now intend to vote for McCain.

Caution: Jean, a mom herself, is also a Princeton grad (perhaps one of the few things she shares with Michelle Obama). However, she's promised me not to use too many big words. (When people found out I had been a college English teacher, they used to worry about their grammar!I think it cost me invitations to parties.)

As always, thanks for visiting. If you have comments, please either use the "comments" section or send them to me via e-mail at
TalkTop65@aol.com.

P.S. Jean's material will appear on Thursday on my HIllary site, and, since Jean has lots of great material, more will appear here on Friday.
